I had the pleasure of discovering an incredible halal restaurant situated in the bustling downtown area. The service was excellent, and what surprised me that they don't have the option to have sauces served separately, which allowing us to customize my meal to my liking like the San Francisco Halal Guys outlet. Personally, I found the white sauce to be exceptionally delicious. I opted for the regular platters, which came to a total cost of approximately $19. I gave five stars to San Francisco one but would like to give 3 to this while compared the service and quality of food. I decided to order my meal for takeout and enjoyed it in the dining room of my hotel, which was conveniently located not far from the restaurant.
In all honesty, I can agree with most of the reviews. It’s not the best halal guys out there but it’s not THAT bad. It’s like Marvel Phase 4 - it satisfies but I’m not enjoying it as much as I could. All I know is something is missing. The chicken tastes like it has bare minimum seasoning. Rice was decent. The white sauce isn’t standing out as much as it should, although that could be because I needed more. Hot sauce was great, 2 lines did it for me. I can’t remember the NY cart but I can remember how much I fell in love with it when I tried it. Definitely too pricey, even with a $2 difference between a small and regular. Maybe it’s a Vancouver thing but I don’t remember the veggie portion being this large. Although I can appreciate it their for balance, it’s not what I remember being so special about halal guys. Also, are toppings new? I don’t think I’ve ever been asked if I want any anywhere else. That said, I’m not deterred from coming back other than the price of it all. Maybe once in a while. 3 stars at best.
Walked into "The Halal Guys" restaurant at Robson Street. We choose to have their regular combo Platter. It was more than enough quantity for 2 people. The taste was very delicious. Shoutout to Prashant for excellent customer service and professional attitude.
Had really low expectations. This definitely beat our expectations. Toppings are okay nothing unique. Flavor was great though! Their sauce is definitely a winner. Their pita bread smelled rancid. Oil might be old! Please replace. Hummus was delicious and babaganosh was very fresh. Hot sauce goes a long way. Very spicy. I recommend!!Food: 4/5
What an amazing experience. The staffs, i am speechless about the food and the way you guys maintain hygiene. A big applause . I grabbed a beef and falafel sandwich and i was suggested to go for the fries in the sandwich by the employee. Deadly combination it was. Thank you for making it worth.Food: 5/5
Had their platter which was super delicious and their portion was really good. The staff was super friendly. Would definitely recommend and would go again :Food: 5/5
Been here for the grand opening. I must say that overall I was disappointed in regards of all I heard about that place. The staff was very nice and friendly but the music was way too loud and the lady didn't hear when I mentioned that I didn't want either jalapeños or hot sauce in my wrap. Turned out that I cannot say if the food was actually good or not as I had my tongue and throat literally ON FIRE as I don't usually eat spicy food. 14 bucks for a sandwich that I couldn't taste is way too bad. I took a photo of my sandwich but my phone apparently didn't save it.
Food tasted less than fresh and was masked by their "white sauce" which I couldn't completely identify. Meat had an unpleasant undertaste. Expensive for what is provided as well. It's also pretty loud, staff was friendly but had difficulty hearing my order.
Follow your instinct. I didn't. Regret followed. I read the less than stellar reviews of this place but decided to give them a try anyhow...even though I had a feeling that I probably shouldn't. The service was friendly and the place was clean, but it was the food that obliterated any chance of me going back, or frankly of them being on the map of local mediterranean/middle eastern foods and competing successfully. I got the Beef Sandwich with added hummus, onions, bell peppers, white sauce and hot sauce to go. Their beef that is served and cooked on the vertical broiler typical of a shawarma style sandwich was extremely low quality....even for street food shawarma standards. It tasted like poor of the poor quality. My wrap was completely soaked in white sauce see pic. All I could taste was sauce, bread and bits of onion, and since I hadn't had anything for breakfast and this was my first meal....I'm hoping I won't get an upset stomach. Sauces of that nature almost all of the time have the bad types of oil...so we'll see. If you're still into that kinda fast food, lower quality....let's just indulge style of eating....then I'd suggest to get it "easy on the sauce", because mine was swimming in it. $17 later....White Sauce with a side of flat bread. .....I think I might have some Pepto Bismol in the cupboard.
If you’ve been to the original foot truck in NYC, you know what you’ve been missing. Nice to finally have it here in Vancouver. This is gonna hit different in the winters for sure. Rice with the white and hot sauce is so savory. The addition of filler veggies is surprising, since the food truck served straight chicken, rice and sauce. I guess that’s just one way to incorporate veggies in my diet and be healthy.
