We have been coming here for many years and food was good but today we were a bit disappointed. The shrimp used to be grilled to add to the salad and now it seems like they just added frozen shrimps. The salmon was very plain , it used to be so nice and tender. Not sure what happen! 3 other tables next to us had complained about their food. But the service was excellent and Octavio service is always great.
We have been going to the Grill at the Glen Club for years. The menu, food and service were always great. In fact we were there just about two weeks ago and all was good. We visited again today and will probably never go back again. The menu was changed and much for the worse. Very limited and costly. We asked why the change and were told there is a new chef who changed the menu. Even though there were only three tables occupied and two servers the service was terrible. After ordering our food we waited about 40 minutes for it to arrive. The bread on my sandwich was so hard I couldn't bite into it and couldn't cut it either. Same with another person at our table. Another ordered something that was under cooked and had a poor flavor. The server removed our plates and we ordered some thing else. I specified extra well done and when it arrived it was medium. Sent it back and waited about 15 minutes for it to be brought back to the table. Ordered dessert consisting of a doughnut topped with ice cream. The ice cream was fine but I couldn't cut into the doughnut. As it turned out it was frozen! They actually served a frozen doughnut! What was supposed to be a good quick lunch turned into a two and a half hour nightmare. And there seemed to be no management in sight. We won't be going back anytime soon.
The Glen Club Terrible experience during this stay; perhaps one of the worst of 40+ years of hundreds of hotels. The heat was NOT controllable in the room. We had to call the front desk every time we wanted a temperature change, and they seemed to struggle to control it. Across 4-5 staff, we had different experiences – as they had to control the temperature, the fan speed, the outdoor vent…… Unbelievable. Three days in we got close to a temperature that would allow us to sleep. Next, the bed was very uncomfortable – hard, and pillows that rivaled our grammas sawdust pillows. Finally, the room and the facility need far more than a bit of love – it needs a significant remodeling. Upholstery that was dirty and had holes yes, holes, stains on carpeting, scraped up walls, an elevator that looked like a high school hockey team had had a field day in there – brutalized. House keeping service in the room was fine and the bathroom was clean, but we couldn’t understand why a bucket with dirty water and a dirty towel stayed in the hall for the length of our 3 night stay. When we complained, the bucket just moved. The front desk staff was very polite and aware of the shortcomings in the hotel but they said that client complaints didn’t generate any action. This is not a hotel consistent with Glenview, the north shore or Hotel 6. Shame on you Rooms: The Glen Club Terrible experience during this stay; perhaps one of the worst of 40+ years of hundreds of hotels. The heat was NOT controllable in the room. After getting hit into by the group behind us at the golf course, we brought it to the attention of the ranger Al. Ranger talked to the group behind us and said the group was confused. Then, one hole later ranger encouraged us to hit into the group in front of us to speed up play for the group behind us that had previously hit into us. That was a new one. Course was ok. Ranger was bonkers.
If you're thinking about booking your wedding here, stop looking and BOOK NOW! The Glen Club was the most PERFECT place to have our wedding. Outdoor intimate ceremony, beautiful patio overlooking golf course for cocktail, THE MOST GORGEOUS reception hall with hall ceilings. Also bonus of having hotel rooms upstairs for the bride + groom and guests so no needing to drive home. I could go on and on about why I am so happy with this decision. Also need to shoutout Michael and the rest of the staff. He was AMAZING. Was so attentive to detail and made it his mission to make sure the day was perfect. Could not recommend more! 100/10.
Hotel was nice, the rooms are dated, carpet needs replaced. I would stay again because the area is good and feels very safe. Lots of food options close by plus the fact you are on a golf course. I would recommend.
A golf retreat just minutes from home! The balcony overlooking the golf course was relaxing and fun to watch people tee off or finish the round. The view was very scenic. Overall a nice stay, but in general the service staff throughout the hotel/restaurant could've been better. Playing a round here was enjoyable, great greens and playing conditions.
Amazing venue for a wedding! Everything was beautifuly decorated, delicious meal, and the hotel rooms were spotless. Shout out to Don, the manager, for his top-rated customer service.
Checked it out before my son's wedding. Food was fantastic.
This is a nice spot for lunch or dinner on a warm summer day. Limited menu, but what they have is good. Mixed drinks are pretty light, don't expect a good pour. Lovely patio seating.
