Overall good experience. This is a older resort but close to everything you need or want. Also, staff was very sweet to us. Simple ask if there is something you want for your room. They were helpful with getting us what we requested. Also, it is older, so at night the lights are not on par and there fore make sure you have a light when walking the grounds. One major tip... I am a regular traveler so I am always prepared for noisy neighbors. Make sure you bring ear plugs. Due to the design of the resort for fire places, you are going to share the same flue. This means that sound travels on the second floors. We could here all the music, dancing, and partying until 0300! We did not mind because we were prepared . However this might not be suitable for little ones. Beds great, room size great, shower pretty good, and hot tube; pass on it. Nearby activities: National Park Mt. HOOD
Kindness & service shine here at Mt. Hood Oregon Resort, despite the post pandemic challenges on the business. The historic resort has been through many ownerships I've heard, but it seems like they're renovating the property this year. Truly a hidden gem, and I'm hoping not many people find out about the resort so I can enjoy it all to myself. We have always been treated with extreme kindness and shown an outstanding level of caring by the hardworking staff. I have a sense that we're living in a ruder, more hostile world nowadays. I feel like the aggression directed toward hospitality and airline workers especially have dramatically increased after the pandemic. I just don't understand the significant increase in abusive & negative behavior from the public, especially from these online reviews. I understand everyone is going through the economic stress the past two years and it seems like some people may have lost their social skills caused by increased isolation. Not to mention, today's political forces are increasingly invested in keeping people angry and have normalized new levels of violent rhetoric. Some people threw out normal rules of civility and others seem to think they have permission to be openly rude and entitled. I hope people support our local businesses, cause remember how miserable it was when these businesses were shut down and we had no place to socialize? The resort needs work, but still a beautiful, clean, and relaxing place to stay. My family and I are glad it's still open, and will be back for our next visit.
We had a wonderful stay at the resort. We’ve stayed a few times over the years and this was our best stay yet. The gentleman at the front desk Tyler? was very helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate us. He also offered lots of local insight. Our room was a little “classic” but clean and comfortable. The food was great per usual, and the service in the restaurant was excellent. We’ve enjoyed the music more in the past, and have definitely favored the “yacht rock” playlist in the lobby and restaurant. Other than that minor preference, our stay was excellent and we would love to come back again.
We had a great time here. We stayed during a slow week so they're weren't too many people. Which is why they had a limited lunch and dinner menu at the restaurant. But everything we had was delicious. We also went in their heated pool and hot tub which made it easier to brave the 25 Degree Weather
After a nice hike on Mt.hood we decided to check into the resort. The lobby and landscape had been decorated nicely for the holidays. The staff all were very nice and helpful. We had a pet friendly room which was very quiet, clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back.Rooms: 5/5
Rusty water in the pipes. No backup generator on site, which became a problem during my stay when the power went out. Not even the emergency lights worked. The room has a TV so old that you have to manually push the power button to turn it on or off. Bed was comfortable. Could not even brush my teeth because the water tasted like rust. Restaurant has good food though. Room was very spacious except for the tiny bathroom with very little counter space on the sink
Unfortunately, it's not worth the money to stay here. It needs extensive updating. Our room was super creepy. The door looked like it had been busted in. No extra security lock on the door. The carpet must have been laid on top of old carpet, as it seemed bumpy and warped. Smelled musty. The TV was from the 90s. The artwork looked like a close-up of flesh that had been scarred up. <weird> art choice. And there were pills under the bed. Lol.. yes, we looked under the bed. It just had such a creepy vibe. The staff at check-in were friendly. The breakfast buffet is not worth the money either. It's the type of breakfast you should get for free.. "continental" type. But honestly, I wouldn't eat it if it were free. THE saving grace was The Spa. It was absolutely fantastic! Would highly recommend The Spa... but ONLY the spa.. Stay somewhere else.
Such a wonderful time at Mt. Hood Resort! We stayed here for our anniversary, and I wanted to surprise my girl with some flowers and nice things set up fireside before we came back. Jolene at the front went the extra mile to help make that happen, and forever tied a memory to this place. Our stay was memorable and warm, rooms were great. Perfect experience.
Nice enough place if you don't expect too much. Solid 3 stars. It's a hotel with a heated pool. That's all. Not a "resort". The rooms and the bathrooms are nicely spacious but dated and showing increasing wear and tear vs. earlier years. Dirty carpets. Ancient TV very hard to work. Have been fairly happily using this as a ski base for years overlooking the frustrations and shortcomings. The restaurant food is almost always awful, as is the bar. Don't eat/drink here if you can avoid it.
I would never stay here again. The room is in serious need of a remodel. The sliding glass door takes your whole body weight to open because it's old and rusted. The tv takes two remotes to work and is difficult to operate. The bed was super uncomfortable and made me hips hurt. The heater was the loudest heater I've ever heard. I had a hard time sleeping here. The front desk staff were not friendly and did not tell me about any services or where they were located. If I hadn't looked on the website I wouldn't have known there was anything else besides a room. There's actually a pool, a hot tub, a restaurant, a golf course, and a spa. Why don't you tell your guests this when they check in? Why don't you give them a map of the grounds? I had to ask where my room was even. She didn't do anything but hand me a key when I checked in. This could be a really nice place. You just need to update the rooms and do a little better at check in.
