Highly recommended. Went for brunch, really enjoyed ourselves. Food menu is a bit different than traditional breakfast/brunch menus, but take the leap of faith and trust that every dish is well thought out and delicious. Restaurant is beautifully designed and furnished, really cozy luxury feel to it. Service was also perfect, couldn’t ask for more. Freshly squeezed orange juice for the Mimosa too!
This is a GEM of a restaurant in Orillia. Top notch, perfectly cooked food all around. There's not a single dish I did not enjoy. Though everything was very delicious, the scallops and the sticky toffee pudding were unforgettable. Please make sure you save room for dessert, you will not regret it. Amazing service and lovely atmosphere.
This is an outstanding restaurant. Great vibe in the dining room with very genuinely friendly service. The food was exceptional. Highly recommend sitting at the chef's counter to see the action in the kitchen and also enjoy the toasty fire from the wood burning grill. Standout items for us were the stuffed zucchini blossoms, heirloom carrots with a zesty zhug, crunchy almonds, and sweet chewy dates what a combination! and the dry aged rib eye steak - seasoned only with salt to let the quality of the meat shine through - brilliant! Simply delicious unpretentious food. Congratulations to the chef and team for creating something special. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
The Common Stove - Located up in Orillia, this restaurant is known for it's wood-fired grill and locally sourced ingredients. Took the fam up for a few days so you know I had to hit it up. Please note that the menu changes, but we started with bone marrow and fire-roast scallops. For the mains, we copped the half-chicken, halibut and pig's head pasta. For our sides we enjoyed the heirloom carrots and Yukon gold fries. A few items could have used a touch more seasoning, but all-in-all it was a tasty meal. The kids ate a little of everything with the halibut being their fav. The wifey and I both liked the pasta, followed by the scallops and then the carrots. Service was on point so no complaints there. Pricey meal, but hey, I guess that's everything nowadays. I'd rank this meal a 7.1. #TomEatsYummyFoodBecauseWhyNot
been wanting to eat here for a while its my third attemp and finally we are able to place a reservation. reviews are great and always book so i thought it would be amazing experience for me to try. ordered lobster pasta, bone marrow and steak and for me its not worth the price my pasta is over cooked the steak are burned the long island tea that i ordered taste too much alcohol on it. and my sourdough taste like charcoal too. ambiance are nice server are sweet and attentive though.
Great spacious restaurant with good food. We got the steak tartare with chips, which tasted fresh. The bone marrow dish was quite unique and was garnished with cilantro. The steak and brussel sprouts and s’mores dessert was nice as well.
First time at TCS last night and I was very impressed. I happen to be a chef so believe me when I say that the skill involved in the food is stellar. We started with a cocktail, the Edmund Fitzgerald, and the bartender did me a solid with a gingerale bitters like I like. Starters were the burrata with roast grapes and miso, and the bone marrow with parsley, shallot, capers and sour dough bread. Both were great but the burrata dish was the best burrata I've had not the cheese itself, the accompaniments, cheese is cheese. The miso was the best thing I've put in my mouth in a long while. And the bite, soaked in the great olive oil on the plate was devine. The chef recommended no bread with the dish and they were correct. A perfect bite. For mains we had the ribe eye with chimmichuri, and the roast turnip with lentils, curry sauce and herbs. Both were stellar but I must say that the turnip won out for us just for the depth of flavours. If you are a steak lover you will love the steaks for sure. Dry aged and prepared very well. Our sides were the fries with aoli, and the common salad Boston, shallot, and vinaigrette. The fries were great and the aoli tasted authentic. The salad was perfect in its simplicity and I wouldn't change an iota. For dessert we had the roast pineapple and almond Panna cotta. The flavors of the were amazing but it hadn't set much at all. So I couldn't do much more than taste it but my wife didn't seem to care and devoured it. I would come back just for the miso. Can't wait to return to try new dishes!
Unique menu, great service. We went for our Friend's birthday celebration dinner. Zoe was our server, she's amazing , so friendly and helpful. We had great time. My favorite was the filled pasta with hazelnuts I don't remember the name. also some appetizers are pretty big portions. all of all it was a good experience, looking forward to bring my other friends there.
Great Sunday Roast! Two minor problems were substituting fries instead of roast potatoes. The Yorkshire Pudding batter didn’t rise. The prime rib was delicious, the gravy was more of an au jus. The service was excellent!
This is one my my favourite places. in the world. We do not live close to it and we travel a lot. The moment we realize are passing Orillia we organize a reservation. I have been 2 times now and I visit 2 to 3 new restaurants a month, so far this has won my favourite meal of the year twice. First off, you will notice the aroma of this place when you enter. The chef is always changing the menu, so for someone who likes new things, I can justify going to the same place. The look of the place is great. The staff is friendly, efficient, experienced and knowledgeable. Cocktails are done right and the food is on point. The ribeye steak was cooked perfect and the taste from the wood fire grill is why this place is my favourite. We also got the squash pasta, which was light and the flavours the chef conjures up are outstanding. I wanted to try more so I even ordered the carrots , and loved them. We could have stopped there , but we didn’t . For dessert we got the coconut panacotta which was vagan, I found out and despite me liking regular panacotta , this was unique and fresh and I was appreciative of the ingredients the chef created. I highly recommend this place and if you live far from their location, it’s worth the road trip. Vegetarian options: Panacotta Parking: I parked on the street right in front of the restaurant.
