I have never been a student at this college, but I would go there to study everyday from 2007 to 2010. I love their tutors. They're are incredibly helpful, especially if you're a high school student. Their staff is very friendly and know how to treat you like one of their own. Your time will be well-spent if you decide to go to this school. It might be a small city, but you'll find friends for a lifetime. I know I have from those that graduated in 2008 to those who are to graduate in 2014.
The college is a decent school, older but still well kept but I hope you don't want any help trying to enroll in classes or ask about financial aid because the women that answer the phones are some of the rudest people I have ever had to deal with. They treat you like you are a idiot for not already knowing the answer to your question. I was signed up for summer classes but decided not to attend this college after all, after speaking with one of the ladies from the financial aid department.
I took the tour today with my daughter. Very beautiful campus, very informative , and they made me feel very comfortable in the choice she has made on where to go to school.
I graduated many years ago from what was then Brunswick Jr. College. My daughter is in her third year in the early childhood education program and my son will be a freshman this fall in the pre-biological program as he is going for a masters in pharmacy at Coastal. The college is great. Class sizes are small enough where the instructors can make time for the students that need him or her. There is a small town atmosphere with many of the shops and cultures of a medium size community. It isn't Atlanta or Jacksonville but then you don't have the dangers of those either. The beach being 30 minutes away doesn't hurt. The local jet port is small but very accommodating. The new dorms are very nice. Brunswick doesn't have a solid local public transit system so be prepared to have some form of transportation to get them to the mall of grocery store which are 3-4 miles away. There are a number of churches within walking distance of many different denominations. The folks in the financial aid office are obviously overwhelmed and could occasionally use a snickers bar. But having gone to a number of universities and worked at others, that is unfortunately the norm. They often have to delivery the federal governments bad news. Don't avoid this hidden jewel of Southeast Georgia for that reason. Do your home work ahead of time on funding and make an appointment to "walk in" and meet with them. You'll find the ladies prepared and pleasant. And they will help you find the money to go to school. They have really helped both of my children. Wonderful location, great folks, several brand new buildings and programs, cafeteria food is awesome and they prepare the kids for a the transition that is about to take place. It is more than just an education. It is truly a transformation..... Ronald E. Ham - IT Director SP Fiber Technologies
I needed a new hat. Nice selection and great prices as well as friendly service. I have my new College of Coastal Georgia hat.
Great college! I've worked and been a student for two years now. The only rough area is in Financial aid, but overall a great, friendly, college.
My son is thinking about going here
Bought a brand new historical geology lab book from here for $105had to buy brand new due to the newest edition, and there weren't any used ones available to sell. Didn't write in it all semester, never tore out any pages, kept the book in pristine condition. Our professor let us print out the labs so that way we could sell the book back and get our money's worth. Took the book back, they offered me $16 for the book that had never been written in. A week later, my roommate tries to sell her book back, now they wont even take it. The girl at the bookstore asked her to donate it. DO NOT BUY BOOKS FROM HERE, GET THEM ON AMAZON. DON'T GIVE THE CAMPUS BOOKSTORE ANY MONEY.
A fantastic place where the people were super friendly and knew exactly how it was to get new books for the first time. Helpful, and extremely kind.
It's a little expensive for some items but that is to be expected! The staff has always been super friendly and helpful!
