Located inside the Trainyards plaza, this restaurant is a nice place to go if you are looking for a healthy fast food alternative. It is on the pricier side, with the pegasus starter salad + tofu pictured costing over $11, and not filling the container. The tofu add-on itself is $3.60. We also had the chopped signature wrap with tofu, which was quite tasty and filling, and cost just over $11 as well.
I ordered a small Greek salad $8ish and added a protein - tofu - for an extra $4. The salad arrived with a big dark hair on top so I took it over to show them. She tried to pick it out and then offered to make a new one. Hair or not, this salad was super disappointing, mostly because of the tofu add-on. It was plain, hot tofu. Probably steamed, no flavour whatsoever. Tofu isn't really meant to be eaten plain, and if you did eat it plain, it would be better off cold. Imagine they served the chicken steamed without any seasoning. Marinade, bake, or grill your tofu and maybe it would be worth it the nearly $14 tax included that I paid for a small.
Quality of food was quite mediocre. Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and it came with barely any chicken. As we ordered, the cashier made it seem like the drink is included, but they are not.
I'm torn writing this review because I LOVE Chopped Leaf and I wish there were more in Ottawa. But it's been 2 times now that I've gone to this location and the employee closed the shop 10 to 15 mins earlier than the listed closing. One of the times I had driven all the way from Orleans simply to get a bowl from here. Disappointing. Food is great though. Love the Bangkok salad. Wish there more locations in Ottawa.
Really slow service. It took almost 20 mins to get our salad. The food was very good. We had the Bangkok salad and the Number 3 bowl. The pieces of salad in the Bangkok were cut too big and it had too many peanuts, but the dressing and the taste were good. We also noticed there were more than 5 dishes piled up at the back.
Decided to try this place while running some errands at the Trainyards. One observation is that it is getting expensive to eat healthy. I couldn’t believe the portion I got for $15. It is not worth building your own salad and better to go with the menu options. I would give it a 3 star but I am giving it 4 because the overall taste was good but portion small. My chicken was also forgotten and I had to go back and ask for it.
I really enjoy this place and find myself walking in whenever I'm in the area. The tuna melt on sourdough is a personal favourite, and I love the daily soup and naturally-flavoured water options. I do find the quality is occasionally a bit hit and miss...sometimes my food is cold, sometimes it's obviously and unevenly reheated, and sometimes things seem to have no salt added whatsoever. These are pretty minor complaints in my opinion though; for what is essentially a fast food restaurant, the options are generally quite healthy, fresh, and delicious. Always looking forward to the unique seasonal recipes too!
The first few times we went, everything was perfect! Great food..however; over the past few months, there is no avocado, not even guacamole. Our past 2 orders were messed up, and I'm not sure how since they are very simple orders. I hope they can raise the level back up to how it was previously. This place has amazing salads, when all ingredients are available, and they don't mess up your order.
This salad bar is great. The customer service is amazing and the different flavor profiles that are presented are well made. If this is your first time, get the Bangkok salad left. A close second is the southwestern right.
The more healthy choices the better and Chopped Leaf offers some really tasty options! Really enjoyed our food and we will be back.
