OMG! We were in town for a couple of days and after our first visit here, we had to come back again before we left to go home. It is DELICIOUS! And adorable. I got their specialties and hubby got his usual and we were both SO full when we left. The mini waffles, crepes, Benedict hash, hot cocoa, and mimosa were all the kind of thing that make you do a happy dance while you’re eating: It’s always busy, but they get you right in. I’m gonna miss having this nearby!
Quirky pork-forward restaurant with an interesting menu backed up by local ingredients, cooked perfectly, and presented well.nnMy waffle was crisp and hot, covered in caramelized banana and whipped cream, and accompanied with maple syrup and a dollop of nutty brown butter. And very tasty pea meal ham straight from the flattop.nnIt was delicious, and the service was prompt, friendly, and helpful.nnRecommended...a lot.
The restaurant is at the corner of the street/intersection. The parking lot is in the back up to around 10 cars. The restaurant has a pig theme on the inside, lots of pig themed decorations. The restaurant is also on the small size. It was also very full and very busy during breakfast hours.nnWe ordered the Benny Poutine $17, the Caramel Apple Pie Crepe $15, the Triple S Crepe $18, the Notorious PIG $20, two coffees $3 each, and water.nnThe Benny Poutine was really tasty. It came with 2 poached eggs, hollandaise sauce slathered on top of the home fries with cheese. At times there were pockets of salt which was quite the surprise to choke on. The bowl was bigger than expected and also somewhat deep.nnThe Caramel Apple Pie Crepe was better than expected. Not too sweet and light. Very delicious as well. Was pretty good and was very large and long.nnThe Triple S Crepe was a sweet, salty and spicy crepe. It looked rather small, but it was filled to the brim with filling on the inside. The meat was pretty salty.nnThe Notorious PIG was under the Eggs Benedict menu. It came with 2 poached eggs on top of 2 Korean pulled pork sandwiches, with home fries on the side. The pulled pork was soft and delicious. The eggs were a bit too runny/raw for my mom.nnAs a family, we shared our plates of food. My mom found that a lot of the food we got was too salty and greasy for her. We all agreed that the Caramel Apple Pie Crepe was very good, just that my mom didn't like the 3 dallops of whipped cream on top of the sweet crepe.nnThe water is cold tap water. The coffee was watered down coffee. The table has salt and pepper, as well as a ketchup bottle. There were also 10% cream and 2% skim milk tiny containers as well as sugar that was very lightly sweet.nnThe online menu is out of date, a few dollars cheaper than the current menu in-person. The washroom was small and tight. Was kind of hard to squeeze on by the washroom stall door. Also the washroom smelled bad.nnOverall, the food was good, albeit a little bit too much salt and grease. The coffee was bad, very watered down and the sugar wasn't really sweet. The service was good, I guess. The servers came to check up on us and refill our watered down coffee with more watered down coffee.nnPros: Food was tasty.nCons: Food was a bit too salty and greasy. Coffee was too watered down. Sugar wasn't sweet. Parking lot is very small.
Always a great experience at the pig! A local favourite, that supports many local businesses! Build your own omelette or frittata is a personal fave!
One of the best breakfast places we have been too. We are traveling with 2 teens and a child. They are all in a food comatose state. I will full recommend to friends and family. You can get the breakfast stables or fancy breakfast fare that we enjoyed. Thanks TBP.
