I walked into this huge shop and I was a bit shocked that there wasn't much in the way of baked goods. I will be back. I have heard nothing but good things about the specialty breads. Especially the cranberry walnut. The counter woman also recommended the cinnamon rolls and that suggestion got my taste buds going. I have to try them. She was sold out.
Whenever we travel from East Amherst out to medina, we always stop in to see if there are any scones available. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The cranberry walnut boule was the best thing we purchased. It took us less than a week to consume it as either toast or simply with butter. I cannot wait until we go out that way to get our apples at LynOaken Winery for their delicious vintages and of course, apples.
If you like bread, pastries, cookies etc.... This is THE PLACE TO GO IN MEDINA FOR HOMEMADE BAKERY FAVORITES!! The prices are very good. The quality is MUCH MUCH BETTER than you get at the in-store bakeries at Tops and Walmart. I love french bread, baguettes, fresh rolls etc. I especially love onion rolls for sandwiches, burgers etc. I went in one day and bought a fresh baguette. I was blown away by the taste, quality and kindness I received. I'm used to paying 2.69 for a Tops french bread or 3.49 for a smaller 'bake at home' style or even more for the small artisan baguettes. The price here was less. I could not believe it. Then I asked for onion rolls. I was told The Bread Basket does not have enough demand to have them ready but I could place an order. So again, at Walmart $3.29 for 6 baked in store. At Tops over $4.... I asked how much and I was told $3.50 A Dozen!!! OMGoodness, I could not believe it. I mentioned the 'Big Store' prices and demanded to pay at leas $4.50. For the quality and time I honestly did not feel good paying the same as I pay for a half-dozen at a big store. When I picked them up FRESH the next day exactly when I was told they would be ready I was so impressed. Please support this Bakery. I did not even know it was there. Each week I order 2 dozen and I demand to pay $5 a dozen because I feel they are worth twice as much as the in store bakeries at Tops and Walmart. I do not know owner. My review is just from an honest guy who appreciates good bread. Try The Bread Basket, I believe you will not be disappointed. Last thing, I like to try different BBQ sauces, artisan ketchup, spread etc. I bought a bottle of Twisted Vine 'Maple-Chipolte' BBQ sauce and EVERYONE WENT WILD and wanted to know what I did the ribs and chicken with. The Bread Basket has a nice selection of unique gourmet sauces you wont find anywhere else. I do not usually post reviews... lol, I just wrote a book for this place because IT IS THAT GOOD!
A store that does brings back the “good old times” store feeling! Very friendly service! Baked goods were very good! Very small store with limited products, but experience was worth it! Thank you The Bread Basket Bakery for making our visit memorable!
The loaf of rye bread I bought was warm from the oven and abIsolutely delicious sliced with butter. I should have arrived earlier for a larger selection. Worth the drive from Amherst.
Looks good. So popular was sold out today.
