5 stars for the location and vibe. We had poutine, chicken wings and chicken nuggets. Average pub food. Next time we will try some salads and the burger etc. Would be a great place to paddle to and grab a bite to eat. Love that there’s a beach on location. Seems like they offer small tubs of icecream as well. Lots of chairs to relax, lots of seating with shade. Cute lights. Like I said , great vibe. Worth the stop.
Bent Anchor rules; the atmosphere is so chill...take your flips off and dig your toes in the sand while you eat. The Caesar is one of the best I've ever had! The pepperette was so tasty. Kids love it..you can swim right there and watch people jump off the bridge into the river! Kids love the beach and jumping off the dock. Great place to go.
The atmosphere makes this place worth going. It’s a fun little restaurant on the water with a casual dining experience and basic pub style food. It’s right by the water so it’s scenic and entertaining if you have kids while you wait. Down side is you will have to wait. I’ve been here multiple times and even when it’s empty the service is sloooow. This is fine if you are there for a relaxing evening but not if you have places to go or annoying hungry children. The staff is super friendly but I always have to get their attention for drinks, which may or may not be a big deal for some. Another downside is that there isn’t a children’s menu so there could potentially be a lot of waste if your kids can’t eat adult portions. Overall I’ll go back for the fun feel of the place!
What a hidden gem! It has many docks where boats and seaplanes can park! Many motorcyclists and ATVs were there. The view says it all. I leave 3 stars for food but would go back for the overall experience. They have an apparel store inside where I proudly bought two of their tshirts! Love such a local pub exists.
An escape everyone needs to their busy, stressful daily routine! Come and enjoy this place, you will feel a relief from all your worries guaranteed. I stumbled upon this place due to my job and decided to take a break while I was working and I’m so glad I did, the food is incredible and the service and atmosphere are exceptional! It’s a get away without actually going on vacation. Parking: Huge open space big enough to fit a transport truck! Kid-friendliness: Super Kid friendly! Beautiful sandy beach with waterfront to swim and play!
Our first time in Combermere but definitely not our last, the Bent Anchor is an absolute gem. Worth driving out even if you're an hour away. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is unreal. They have merch for sale which came in handy when my son decided not to bring a sweater. Coming back soon to try the smash burger and deep fried pickles.
Bent Anchor is a great place to go with the family or friends for a nice cocktail/drink. They have done a phenomenal job with making the place super cozy and family friendly. The location is perfectly situated on the madawaska river so you can go in by boat or car. The beach and the property is super clean and tidy. The table tennis, table hockey, and beach is a perfect touch to keep your kids entertained while you relax. It's a perfect place to come for the whole day and enjoy. The food is great for a pub/beach bar. The menu offers typical bar/pub style items for your enjoyment. Smoked chicken is finger licking good. The Ribs are super delicious. Poutine was very yummy. The service was great and the staff did their best to make sure you are taken care of. Definately recommend this place to all !
When my friends and I had first arrived, the waitress had said “you can sit anywhere but the reservation tables” so I had said “but we have a reservation.” Very rudely, the waitress had replied back saying “well go find it then.” Very rude. The waitress we had take our order was very nice tho, I forgot to get her name. The food we were served was absolutely horrible. My bf and I split nachos and the cheese that was on it was like cheese whiz, the meat tasted awful. Our friend had ordered a pulled pork sandwich but got a tea spoon of the pork. The only good part was the view. Will not be going back again.
I could go on and on about how great this place is. From the delightful service, wonderful atmosphere and the outstanding food!!! The only problem I have is that I live too far away and every other place will have to compete unsuccessfully with this place. I will now have to plan all future vacations with a stop here along the way.Food: 5/5
Very chilled with an impressive playlist. Enjoyed a superb ‘naked’ Caesar with my lunch. Their signature Caesar appears to include bacon and a sausage as part of the garnish - $13.25. Respectable pulled pork sandwich and a good selection of beers, with a bent to Polish varieties. All in all a great place to pull into either on watercraft or a vehicle.
