First time visiting the Bad Alibi! Love the name, atmosphere, staff and food. We ordered something not shown on the menu, and before our food arrived a manager came over asking if we were aware of some of the toppings! This attention to details was very nice to see. If you are in the Orleans area do yourself a favour and stop in for tasty fresh food. The burger buns are super fresh, and the fries are perfect! Great restaurant.
Food was slow to come out of the kitchen. Service was adequate. The tea-soaked egg that comes with the Cobb salad ruined the plate. The whole salad was confusing and not at all satisfying. We also had a chicken wrap that was good. The Korean BBQ wings were so-so. A confusing dining experience . #localguide Follow-up to the restaurant, an employee came up to our table to explain many of the issues your restaurant was experiencing. We were impressed to learn that an owner was in the kitchen cooking, as you were short staffed We waited close to an hour for our food, irregardless of when the order was punched into your system. It must have not been a pleasant experience for your team when a table had ordered Burgers, but left due to the lengthy wait. So happy you had 35 orders ahead of us. Perhaps stopping by our table once in awhile would be been helpful…a cup of coffee or tea?!! #localguide
Updated review: I originally gave this restaurant 3 stars, but with the fast and professional response I received from the owner I decided to give it another shot. My partner and I have eaten here several times now, and this is my go-to place in Ottawa for fish and chips. The fish is always cooked perfectly and I enjoy the beer batter. Last night I also tried the breakfast burger which was also amazing and I would order it again. The fries are also just how I would like them. The service is alright, but the owner seems to always be in the restaurant going above and beyond to make sure all his customers are happy and taken care of - he's very easy to talk. If you're looking for a great fish and chips, I would highly recommend this place Old review: We heard great things about the fish and chips so thought we'd try it out. The service was attentive and experienced, and the fish was tasty. I am rating 3 stars for 2 reasons: First I'm surprised they served me this piece of fish because 1/3 if it was batter only as you can see on either end in the picture at the top of the piece there was about 5 inches of batter only before the fish portion started. In my opinion the kitchen made a mistake and shouldn't have sent this out to a customer. The second reason is because we both had upset stomachs following our meals.
Wow. I absolutely LOVE this place. Great atmosphere, beautiful patio, amazing service, terrific food. You know how I know somewhere is gonna be great? When they have a tailored menu that is one page, items change frequently & they don’t try to do a million items. Even with this last short menu I still had a hard time deciding, because EVERYTHING sounded amazing. We were greeted kindly by the owner upon arrival. We asked to sit at the bar instead of a table which was no problem. Backless barstools at the bar and couple of 4 seat high tops in the bar area. I would have loved a hook to hang my purse or sweater under the bar, luckily no one was beside me so I used the empty stool instead. They have a small but delicious cocktail menu. They have CORONA beer on tap! It was my husband’s first time seeing that so he had to have one, and it was so cold - perfect for a hot & muggy day! We also tried a bourbon sour & a melon ball which were both delicious I even had a second bourbon sour! Ordered their famous Fish & Chips as well as a Nashville Chicken Sandwich with soup. The fries here are so so good, like chip truck level good. Actually some chip trucks could learn a thing or two about how to make perfect fries from Bad Alibi. Everything was perfectly cooked, delicious and insta-worthy. We cannot wait to come back here and try anything and everything they have to offer. It is officially my new favourite place in Orleans. Plus the owner was so chill & easy to talk to he was also bartending/serving! - as my husband and I are both ex-restaurant industry - we know a good one when we see one ; Owner told us everything was made from scratch and they now have breakfast as well. I can’t wait to try it. Way to go for opening up such an amazing spot. I’d love to see live music here in the future!
Fish and chip very large portions. Beer batter was amazing, dill pickle not so great. Fries were good. Coleslaw didn’t taste so good. Great price for what you get.
We went to try The Bad Alibi for the first time this past weekend with a party of 5 and let me start of by saying, we will 100% be back! We ordered the wings to share and most ordered Nashville chicken and fish and chips. The 2 piece fish and chip portion was huge, def enough to feed 2 people. The Nashville chicken was so flavourful and just the right amount of spiciness. The chicken wasn't dry at all and every bite was delicious!! The Korean BBQ wings were amazing! They make the sauce in house and it was one of the best wings I've tasted. So juicy and flavourful. Next time I will be trying the Korean BBQ fried chicken! The plus side for our party was that the chicken they use is all Halal! Totally a game changer and this will be our new spot for fried chicken and wings and more!! Will definitely share with all our friends and family that the chicken is halal and they will definitely visit! The owners were so kind and chatted with us making sure everything was good. Such an amazing first experience and this will definitely become a regular to go spot for us!
Went there for fish and chips Friday. OMG, what an amazing place. Beer batter fish was crispy, crunchy, soft, juicy and just delicious. We also tried brassel sprouts, with the vinegar dressing, It's perfectly smoky and tasty. The Korean BBQ chicken was surprising good with an authentic touch of pear pairing. Funny that two pieces of chicken wings dropped on their way to the table and we didn't know at all, the kitchen made new ones and sent over, very honest and nice people there. Would come back to try other items on the menu in the near future. Update: Went again on Friday to try the dill pickle fish and chips, again, best fish and chips in town. Also tried Thai flavor and kansas BBQ, both tasty with a little spicy kick.
Been here a couple of times. Lunch once, enjoyed the garden wrap and Bad Alibi brew. It was fab! Heard the fish and chips is great there so had to give it a try. A bit disappointed..the food was nice and hot, fish was delish but the fries were soggy in oil and the coleslaw did not taste fresh. Service was lousy! Attendant was extremely abrupt and not pleasant. Nevertheless nice little spot with patio.
Wow, wow, wow. I live in Orleans and have passed by many times. This time, I pulled in. Great atmosphere. THE best burger I've had in a long time. Great vegetarian options and craft beer selections. This is going to be my go to with work friends. Vegetarian options: Dynamic and diverse. Appetizers and dinner options. Kid-friendliness: There is a pub area, but there is also a more subdued dining side.
Well, this is a bit of a redemption for The Bad Alibi. A couple of years back, we had a terrible experience. I will focus on the fish and chips for this review, but keys start with the basics, The service - Fast, friendly, and efficient. Zero complaints! The atmosphere - well, nothing special, just a drab standard pub. A few televisions and a bar. She's nothing fancy... The food. The last time I ordered fish and chips, it was probably the worst fish and chips on Ottawa bar none. However, that was 2 years ago. At a regular price of $23, this 2 piece would be overpriced. At Friday's $19 special, they got it right. The one piece is $12. Portion size - The fish in the photo is half the order. That second slab behind it is just as big or bigger! This was a huge order. Too big for me, but I stuffed my face till it was gone. The batter - one was typical beer batter, the other was a dill pickle batter. The pickle batter was not impressive. Sure, there was a hint of dill pickle, but not enough to wake up the taste buds. A bit of tarter sauce or ketchup drowned it out. The beer batter was light, crispy, and lacking flavor as well. The fish - The beer batter may have been fine, but with my first bite, it was evident to me that they did not season the fish. Salt and pepper enhance not only the fish but the batter as well. You can not use batter to compensate for not seasoning the fish. The fries were good. Seasoned well, and they appeared to be home cut. Overall, not bad. If you like huge portions over top notch flavour then you will love this place. I will go back but when I do I will get the one piece order. That is big enough. My opinion is the 2 piece should have been $17. I would not pay full price for either. Cheers, have a great meal!
