Really cool Island and very friendly people. The restaurant is volunteer run and offers good food 3-4 stars depending on what you order and very friendly staff. Had their burger with a salad, my wife had the Buddha bowl and our son had the pulled pork. Very clean and well maintained. They also have a good breakfast section and yummy ice cream.
Great little seasonal restaurant on Amherst Island. The burger or breakfast sandwich on a gluten free bun are my favourites, but we love the specials, too, including Fish Fryday and fresh Saturday donuts! Picnic tables outside and some tables inside for when the weather is bad. Volunteer board and first-time young employees make this non-for-profit and valiant effort. Vegetarian options: A few veg options Parking: 5-6 spots in lot and street parking on north side. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp installed in 2020.
Great place to grab a bite on Amherst Island. The banquet burgers, sweet potato fries, and onion rings were amazing, with the poutine being average and the chicken fingers being bland. Service took 15 minutes with an empty restaurant, but all in all a good place with great food, friendly staff, and great prices. Will return!
Our first time to eat here. We just got hamburgers and the kids had chicken fingers. We all loved our food. My hamburger was delicious served on a fresh pretzel bun. The kids loved their chicken fingers.
Good food, good people and best Island. What more could you ask for? Love being part of this community! Grabbed a banquet burger for the ferry ride.... Delicious!
Absolutly charming little resturant on Amherst Island. The food was wonderful and cooked perfectly, the lady working the counter and grill was very friendly and helpful. We were there during the bank blackout and she was nice enough to accept our cash and place our order on her credit cardas they are not accepting cash right now great outdoor tables to enjoy your food or they have indoor dining aswell. Will deffinetly be back again!!
I love the Back Kitchen! The food is excellent burgers especially and the staff are fantastic. While I anxiously await the return to table service, I'm so grateful for online ordering and pickup. It makes life on an island immeasurably better. You folks rock! Keep up the great work.
First time at this restaurant on Father's Day 2021 and the food was fantastic. I had the Stella Bay Burger with lots of extras. Excellent. This was one huge burger and ended up finishing off at home for dinner. Just missed ferry, so ordered online while waiting in ferry line-up. Ordering process was very easy. Look forward to my next visit.
We enjoyed two amazing meals here! Great service, great prices and GREAT FOOD! That's an unbeatable combo! I had the Banquet Burger and when we returned, a pulled porked sandwich, capping off dinner with ice cream - Mike had a Western Sandwich & round two was the Fish-wich with onion rings for dessert. Everything was excellent & so yummy! I can tell you, that those meals kept us full and satisfied while we traveled around Amherst Island, bird watching, fossil hunting & more! What a day!
Food is good and made to order; very reasonably priced and big servings. Staff friendly and welcoming. A nice stop on the island for a meal.
