The Sundried Tomato Gnocchi is in the top 3 meals I have ever had, if not in the top position!
The food was amazing: creamy risotto with beets and pine nuts plus scallops pan seared and so savory! It was the best thing I've eaten all month. Even better than the food, though, was the service. The staff here is kind, courteous and dedicated to good food. The chef went the extra mile to make sure my food was hot and fresh. Through my own error, forgot my wallet in Chemainus, I was very late to pick up my take out order. I explained what happened and they made me fresh food and were very understanding. If you get the chance, please enjoy the Ainslie. I look forward to eating here again!
We went for the Dine Out three course menu. The beetroot tartar was amazing. That was 5 stars. Great presentation; great flavour. The carrot cake dessert was very good. But the Bay Scallop Gnocchi entree was so small and not worth the price. The bay scallops were about the size of your nail on your small finger. The taste was good but not the value. For $45, they should have added more food on the plate for this dish. Would I go back? Not sure! Very basic as far as ambience. Service was good.
We had lunch out on the patio. The table we had was well away from all the other tables and the entrance. So that allowed us to feel quite safe as things are opening up a bit. Plus is was a quiet area. The serving staff were excellent. Our waitress seemed to know just when to come by the table. And, when she went off shift, it was a seamless transition to the other waitress. The food was excellent as well
My wife and I had lunch there today. Both our meals were wonderfully prepared and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed, not rushed. Airy and open, and felt private at the same time. We were able to sit, talk, peruse the menu and generally ease into ordering when we were ready. We have already decided to go back for supper soon.
The food at the Ainslie is amazing. So fresh and such bright flavours! I love that the menu changes so every time we go we get to try something new. And they keep some of their star items - like the pork belly tacos that are to die for. The cocktails are also so good!
Enjoyed one of the best lunches I've had in years. Even with all the restrictions surrounding Covid this little restaurant goes above and beyond. The staff are professional and treat you like a real customer. The food was out of this world and from the looks of the building one would never know the food is 5 star . Absolutely is the rating im giving this place. Will be spreading the word to all my friends and followers. When in Duncan BC you must stop here for a quality and amazing meal and experience. #bestrestaurant #duncanbc
The food was amazing with perfect portion sizes and flavor out of the world. The staff were so wonderful with our table. They were able to make a small personal meal for a little child in our party, and make it gourmet. I will definitely be back to keep trying everyone of their dishes.
Popped in on a whim for brunch. Basic decor but it works, feels open and inviting. Music at good volume to enjoy without overwhelming. Multiple intriguing menu options, always a good sign when hard to choose. Not too many, just a number that were appealing to my particular tastes. Service was prompt and courteous but also not obtrusive. Meal was wonderful. The benny was cooked just right and portion was solid for price. Given the flavours, was a very good deal. Highly recommended and looking forward to coming in again.
Had a delicious brunch with friends on the beautiful patio today. Great menu that caters to all dietary preferences. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals, very fresh local ingredients. I’m a vegetarian, and it was one of the best meals I’ve enjoyed. Definitely a hidden gem downtown Duncan. Can’t wait to return for dinner!
