Story

Located on five wooded acres by the Fairfield/Bridgeport line at 4450 Park Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut, behind the Discovery Museum. (One mile off Exit 47 Merritt Parkway.) Appealing to outdoor fun-seekers age 5 through adult, the Adventure Park features multiple zip lines and aerial ropes challenge courses for hours of "fun in the trees." Suitable challenges for kids, teens and adults.

The Adventure Park at The Discovery Museum consists of eleven different “ropes courses” through the trees, of varying challenge levels, from introductory to advanced. The self-guided courses do not require previous climbing experience. After receiving a safety briefing and harness, each climber selects a course at their comfort level and then proceeds to navigate its different “bridges” or “elements” moving from tree platform to tree platform. The courses include zip lines as well. Climbers proceed at their own pace and each course requires anywhere from approximately 15 – 30 minutes to complete. Upon completion of one course the visitor may again ascend the starting platform and select another course. Generally, a climbing ticket entitles the visitor to unlimited climbs during a three-hour period. Park staff members are continually on-site and available for assistance or questions.

All climbers wear safety harnesses that employ “double-clipped-on” technology to help keep the climber continuously connected to a safety cable throughout their time in the trees. The courses are designed for ages five and older, with appropriate challenges suited for kids, teens and adults. (Five- and six-year-olds are permitted to climb on our Purple courses only and are each required to have an adult climbing with them. One adult per child.)

Great active outdoors family fun. Lots of tracks for any levels - from the very beginners and kids to athletes. Some tracks are challenging. If you have a fear of heights - think twice.

Went with whole family (kids 13, 7 & 5). Good organization and security measure allow even for the small ones to have fun.Offer lots of challenges even for the older ones. Wish there were more courses for the 5-6 ones. Restriction here is mostly due to holding lines being too high to reach, not because it is too difficult. Not too busy, but not recommended at peak times. You would spend most of your time waiting behind someone. On the whole fun time and good for building confidence

This place is decent for what it is except that it's too pricey. They should consider family pricing and/or do more promotions to give people a chance for discounts. Better yet they could charge per hour like bowling ($10/hr would be reasonable). Some zip line only courses would also make it more fun. I paid $103 w tax for myself and my 7 yo; my wife watched otherwise it would have been $160. My daughter did 4 courses in 2hrs, I did 6 in 3hrs, the last two on courses my daughter wouldn't have been allowed on (blue & black). For an adult in decent shape and not afraid of heights, only the black courses will be interesting. I think hiking, biking or swimming has more fun factor for kids but if you get tired of those and your kid enjoys rope courses, this is an OK 4th option (if you're not sure whether your kid will like it I don't recommend you start here, price is too high, try Palisades Mall or some smaller indoor courses first). It's not someplace I would pick for myself or for adults by themselves. And if you want to come here to get over your fear of heights you'll just be holding up the people behind you causing irritation all around. Go hike a hill instead.

Tons of fun! Our guide, Nelly did a great job describe how to stay safe while having the most fun! We went as a family, but my wife and I have done this as a date night and had a wonderful time.
