One of the best Thai food I’ve had in Calgary! Highly recommend making reservations prior to going as most table are reserved when we went.nnWe ordered the Thai chicken skewers, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Green Curry, grilled pork jowl, Thai Crispy Fish topped with Spicy chilli sauce, and Thai Basil stir fry Minced Meat. Everything was amazing and the spice level was good, my favourite was definitely the green curry as it was very well balanced. Glad the server told us about the spice level and how medium is considered spicy.nnWould definitely come back again to try their other dishes! Ambiance was good, very easy to find parking, not too loud and bright environment.
Thai Siam in Calgary is, frankly, an underwhelming experience. While it offers a variety of traditional Thai dishes, the food lacks the vibrant flavors one would expect. I tried the Pad Thai, and while it was edible, it felt overly sweet and lacked the tangy punch typically associated with the dish. The Green Curry was equally disappointing, with a watery texture and hardly any depth of flavor.nnThe ambiance of the restaurant feels a bit dated and doesn't quite capture the inviting, warm vibe that would complement the cuisine. Service was also inconsistent; while the staff were polite, they seemed disorganized, resulting in longer waits even when the place wasn’t particularly busy.nnOn a positive note, the portion sizes were decent for the price, and the restaurant does offer a range of options for those with dietary restrictions. However, considering the number of quality Thai places in Calgary, Thai Siam falls short of expectations. It's not terrible, but there are definitely better places in the city to get your Thai food fix. If you're just looking for something quick and don't have high expectations, it might do the trick, but don't go out of your way for it.
My recent experience at Thai Siam was pleasant. We reserved a table for three at 5 p.m. on a Sunday, and it wasn’t very busy, so the service was quick. They don’t provide a physical menu; instead, you need to scan a QR code to access the online menu. You have the option to order and pay directly online or place your order with the staff.nnWe started with the chicken skewers as an appetizer, which came with five well-marinated, juicy chicken thigh skewers—definitely a highlight!nFor our main dishes, we shared the Pad Thai with shrimp and Green Curry. The portions were reasonable, and the flavors were enjoyable.nnThe staff was friendly, and I’d especially recommend trying the chicken skewers if you visit!
In my opinion, this is the best Thai restaurant in all of Calgary. Every dishes we ordered was made with fresh ingredients and was served hot. Our spice level was mild and seemed to be just the right amount of heat. I think any higher, would have had us sweating in our seats. The portions are fair for what you pay for.nnThe staff and the owners are friendly and have great service. I highly recommend this Thai restaurant.
Second Review:nWe really enjoyed our dining experience here the second time. Finally had a chance to try out their gin...our favourite is the strawberry. This time we also tried their stirred fried beef rice and green curry with coconut rice. We loved all the food here. We wanted to see how Thai Siam measured up to a fabulous Thai restaurant in the big city. The dinner was a pleasant surprise.nnWe ordered the Chicken Satay, Coconut Chicken Soup, Shrimp Pad Thai, Panang Curry, Coconut Rice, Grilled Pork Jowl, and Mango Coconut Rice. Our first server was very nice and explained to us they changed the look of the Mango Coconut Rice and referred us to a latest photo so we would not be disappointed.nnFood was very flavourful and delicious. Our favourites were the Coconut Chicken Soup and the Grilled Pork Jowl. Service could be better with our other server who seemed a bit annoyed with us that we did not order from the online system.nnOverall, we enjoyed our meal very much and would make this a go-to Thai restaurant if we are craving for Thai food in Calgary.
