Price Is A Little Steep But Affordable 4. Food Is Authentic & Tastes Great From Someone Who Hasn’t Tried It In India 5. Reservation System Is A little complicated
Had an excellent lunch. We both had the Royal Thali. Very generous portions. 3 different kinds of rotis and we were told which dishes to enjoy each with. Each dish had a unique flavour, the food is more flavourful than straight up spicy , you can get the delicate taste of the dish. The restaurant is less than 2 years old. The proprietors are extremely helpful and friendly. They exhibit a true passion for the food. Great choice for vegetarians and vegans!
Central location, Spacious, Nice ambience, Numerous varieties, Authentic taste and friendly environment with courteous servers. Royal thali was great. Having two sweets was really nice. Choice of sabjis is in perfect balance with thali. Rajasthani kadhi and Gatta sabji was yummy and literally finger licking. Although I love Rasmalai as a sweet but it is not a part of Rajasthani cuisine and should be removed from Thali in my opinion. I was told that mung dal halva is also served sometimes, that’s a nice choice. Little Churma laddoo was tasty and cute. Can be made little bigger. Dal bati was tasty with balanced spice level. Bati was properly cooked and soft from inside with flavorful ghee. One Farsan can be added to thali to make it a complete meal. I would suggest even to increase the cost a little and quantities can be increased or one refill should be free even if you are sharing, provided everyone on table orders minimum for $17. Kachori platter was amazing. The stuffing recipe and taste was classic. Quite filling. Pyaz kachori can be reviewed as an option to be added in the menu. Bedmi poori and Aloo sabzi was also good. Taste of sabji was really authentic. Pickle was tingling tasty. Unlike other reputed hyped restaurants where you enjoy noise and talks of other tables too with your meal for free, you would miss that in Tatha Chula. Properly placed tables give you a feeling of enjoying a peaceful meal. Needless to say that the washrooms were clean too. One can actually see how many varieties can be there in a Vegetarian restaurant. If you are foodie and looking for a really tasty food, you must visit and you would thank me.
If you want to experience authentic Rajasthani food in Vancouver, then this place is a must visit. I ordered regular thali and it had all the varieties with sufficient portion size. They also give 1 free refill for each dish. You can also opt for a la carte if you are looking to try out something specific.
Authentic Indian taste of Rajasthan. Highly recommend thali, big portion for decent price. If everyone on table orders thali, you get one refill of each item. Dal bati was amazing.
Came here for dinner on a Friday and had an amazing time. Ordered the Royal Thali which contains 15 different items. Each item had their own unique flavour and texture. Was tempted to order a refill on an item because I liked it so much but my stomach was about to explode. Needless to say, I left feeling extremely happy and full. The service was absolutely incredible. Our server was very personable and so kind to explain each dish and how to pair them. You can see how much love goes into their food and restaurant. It was pleasant to have the owners come by and chat with us during our dinner. It felt like you were eating at somebody’s home than at a restaurant. Also learned that they change the items in the Thali everyday so you will never know what you will get! Variety is the spice of life and Tatta Chulha delivers!
Nice place to try Rajasthani cuisine. I was hoping the dishes would be more spicy and flavourful. We tried the thali, kachori tokri and daal pakwan. I personally liked the menu items more than thali. The decor and service is very nice. Parking is a bit challenging at this location.Food: 3/5
Fantastic food in a casual family dining setting. Very friendly and helpful servers. Definitely coming back. Food: 4/5 Daal pakwaan was excellent. The toppings gave it a nice sweet and spicy kick. The pakwaan was just short of a perfect soft core inside a crisp layer but still the best in town. The thaali was also great. All the paranthas and roti were excellent. The kadhi had the perfect flavours. Other dishes - bharta and alok bhaaji - were also bang on the rajasthani taste profile. Daal baati was good but I felt could have been more authentic. The meetha paan was amazing! Service: 5/5 Very friendly and informed servers. Gave us more refills without charging. Felt very much at home! Ambiance: 4/5 Very casual for a chilled out family dinner.
Really fantastic restaurant serving an authentic cuisine Rajasthani that you can't get anywhere else in Vancouver as far as I know. My favourite is the batti, which is a dense and chewy bread that is incredibly filling and is paired with daal soup. But everything is great!
Decor is good, our waitress was also great. Food was average. We ordered a thali, it tasted ok. We also order bedmi poori with aalo sabzi and that tasted better than thali. Poori was good and sabzi was average.
