Story

Taste the Past Bed and Breakfast

Return to a simpler era and experience a stay in a historic, turn-of-the-century home. Located in Drumheller's unique downtown, this Original Grand Mansion was built in the early 1900's by one of Drumheller's pioneering coal barons.

Three queen rooms, each with private bath, are available for guests. The rooms are tastefully designed and decorated, with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. Quaint, quiet and relaxing.

Spend your evening socializing and unwinding on the beautiful veranda or the backyard patio and gardens. The garden offers ample space with an outdoor firepit available for guest use. Mini fridge available to chill beverages.

Enjoy a hot, specialty breakfast in a spacious and charming dining room. Relax in the elegant parlour, complete with fire place, sunny bow window and antique furnishings. Gallery walls display the photography and artwork of local artists. Fossils and artifacts, bringing Alberta's rich and facinating past to life, decorate the shelves.

Your hosts, Rob and Myrna, are well-versed and knowledgeable about the numerous attractions the Drumheller valley offers. Located only a short drive from the world-renowned Royal Tyrell Museum, Rosebud Dinner Theatre, Atlas Coal Mine and the Hoo Doos. Within walking distance from the World's Largest Dinosaur, restaurants, museums, swimming pools and theatre.

Taste the Past is located in a converted heritage home in downtown Drumheller. The place offers a warm, homey atmosphere, with many nice touches throughout the house. My family of 4, with 2 kids under 2, stayed in the 3rd floor room, a converted attic space. The stairs are steep, the roof is low in places (turn of the century home), but the room is cozy and comfortable, with an overstuffed pillow top on the main queen bed, and a spare room that was perfect for our daughter to have a space of her own for bedtime. The 3rd floor features a private bathroom with a clawfoot tub, perfect for soaking a hot day of site seeing off, or for bath time with the kids. Cozy robes are also provided. Breakfast was fantastic! The menu always varies from what we are told. We were given fresh water melon and blueberries, raspberry lemon pancakes, local spiced sausage and fried eggs over easy, with coffee and tea available of course! Rob and Mryna are the lovely owners, and are warm, sweet and welcoming. Always happy to lend a hand, be it holding the baby during breakfast, or carrying luggage. We loved our overnight stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Future trips to Drumheller will have us looking up Taste the Past before any other lodging in town! We cannot wait to go back!

Myrna and Rob made us and our family feel very at home at our recent stay here for our anniversary. Upon arrival they were friendly and very informative and wanted to make sure our stay was the best. The greek place they suggested for dinner was amazing and it was nice to be able to walk there from their place. As I'm on a Keto diet they were very nice to ensure what I could eat and made a fantastic breakfast for myself and an equally amazing breakfast for my husband and daughter. It was great to sit with them have a coffee and discuss so many interesting topics. We highly recommend this jewel in the bad lands if your looking for a great place to stay and people who truly welcome you into their home.
