Excellent and friendly service. Restaurant is very clean, including the bathrooms. The decor is cool. Food was well cooked and tasty. We got the tandoori chicken kebab lunch plate and the tandoori shrimp stir-fry. I also got a Turkish coffee, it was a bit too cardamom heavy for me. Prices are reasonable. Overall a great experience, we will be back to try more foods.
Lovely ambiance, falafels were awesome, kofta beef grilled inside a pita was great, the moussaka was superb, and the three-kebab plate-chicken, tandoori chicken, and kofta beef,, great! TBH the tabbouleh salad could have used a little more vinegar or lemon juice, I was not sure quite what was missing as different places have their own variant.
A commendable Middle Eastern fine dining experience. Salad was fresh, with the strong herb infused olive oil a plus. Chicken shawarma was moist and flavorful, as is the rice. Service was amiable. Overall a neat establishment worthy of a visit.
The calm and serene decor of Taste of Egypt takes you back to the past but their food is so refreshing and tasty. I was welcomed with the Secret of Sphinx, a unique combination of lemon and mint drink, the subtle flavours were pretty intresting, then came the unique Kabab Platter, with a great presentation, I simply loved it. 10 out of 10. Perfect Date night location currently in Saint John if you are open to exotic flavours.
My family and I went to enjoy a nice dinner out and it wasn't what we expected. To begin with the staff were great, the interior design, the atmosphere was beautiful. The food on the other hand was not great. For appetizers, we order hummus$7 which was ok at most, it wasn't smooth and the oil they used wasn't good with it. The Arayas$13 were good. The mains we got were mixed kebab $32, shrimp kebab $24, rack of lamb $32. Each main came with a choice of fries, salad, and rice. We get the tabouleh , Egyptian salad, fattoush salad, fries and the rice. The mixed kebab came with 2 skewers of tandoori chicken, 2 skewers of chicken and 2 beef Kofta; they were all VERY VERY DRY, the portoin of the meat was underwhelming and they tasted store bought unfortunately. The shrimp kebab was also dry and just boring, no wow to it. The rack of lamb on the other hand was actually good but, the bone was WAY LARGER than the meat was. All salads tasted a week old and not fresh, the cuts for the lettuce, cucumber, carrot were very inconsistent fries and rice were OK. Overall, the food was expensive, not fresh possibly store bought ready, hopefully not, and worst of all very dry.
Unfortunately the food was cold.. bland.. and just tasteless. It is very expensive for the quality but not quantity. If you’re super hungry and your tastebuds are just craving anything, go ahead and get the mixed kebobs. They literally were blocks, I was very disappointed especially that I was craving something “middle eastern”. It may have been a bad day or a change in chefs. My notes on the food: Hummus needs some lemon to be perfect, consistency is a bit off. None of the plates come with garlic, mayo instead which was shocking. The pita is okay. The rice is okay 2/5. The actual meat tandoori, shish tawook, kebab, kafta was all pretty bad.. tasted re-heated. The shrimp was not as bad, but was cold. I was upset to recommend this place to my family for a special celebration and we ended up going to grab food elsewhere after paying over 300$. Service is good; one note is maybe when servers are on other tables to not announce or speak so loudly the whole restaurant could hear whether someone wanted ice or not haha, but no big deal on that end. I came to eat delicious food and was left hungry. I have to give the owners a thumbs up for the decor from their uptown location though!
Absolutely delicious. Best service by Kile in Saint John NB! Went with his recommendation of the Chicken Tandoori Kebob. So awesome. Definitely worth returning.
Amazing food, will try dining in next time as it was a beautiful restaurant. I got GF shawarma dinner plate -huge and absolutely fantastic- with a Greek salad, equally as great and it came with a free soup special on currently-lentil soup. It was fabulous and I will definitely have again. I also ordered hummus with GF pita so happy they offer this. Overall was delicious and was amazing to find good gluten free options. 10/10 will come back! Dietary restrictions: Amazing gluten free choices. Also saw a bunch of vegetation and dairy free options.
The food was good. Service great. It is especially nice for my husband with many diatary restrictions. I find the Egyptian food very mild in use of spices. I wish some dishes had more. Dietary restrictions: Brilliant menu forgluten free and dairy free.
The ambient was indescribably good, it truly gave middle eastern vibes and it was really beautiful. Don’t get me started on the food! It was so good i was also really hungry that evening lol that i forgot to take pictures and only remembered when there was 1 Falafel left in my plate. “Arayes” in appetizers is finger licking good and a must try!!! Don’t forget to order it if you visit. If you don’t, you will be missing out on the best dish ever!
