Taqueria Kukulkan, an authentic Mexican Restaurant. We offer dishes from different regions, following recipes passed down from one generation to the next

Story

Our menu reflects the complexity of Mexican cuisine, and we truly believe that everybody should be able to enjoy it. For that reason we cater to all, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets, without losing our authenticity, Mexican cuisine is that vast. We like to promote Mexican culture, that's why we are promoting the culture of Tequila and Mezcal. We encourage our guests to "sip" not shoot, and indulge in all rich flavours and complexity of Tequila and the artisanal Mezcal and Sotol. If you would like to learn about them, please ask us, we will gladly help to make it a wonderful experience for you We are proud of heritage and our food is the best way to show it. Just remember that when you are dining at our restaurant, it is exactly as you would find it in Mexico.

We tried the fish, shrimp and zucchini tacos, the plain queso and the churros. All of them were quite good! The cactus salad was interesting but too onion-heavy for my taste. My favourite item was the fish tacos, which were sweeter than I'd usually expect from a taco but really great with some of their spicy house hot sauce. Service was a bit slower than average, but also very friendly and helpful. If you like Mexican food, definitely try this restaurant sometime you aren't in a rush.
Wow. Authentic, fresh and delicious. You don't want to miss this extraordinary little restaurant in a strip plaza. Firstly to address previous reviews for wait times, we need to consider that even the Guac highly recommended is hand made for every order. You won't believe your taste buds that you're in Ottawa, but remember to have patience. Yes you might have to wait for your food, but it is very much worth the wait. Hence the 5 star. Service? Our server was Lexi I think, who's friendly, polite and was attentive to customers. Thank you! Food pictured is the Steak Alambre of which was thoroughly enjoyed with the sauces provided. Savory and a little mild for the local pallet. Make sure to ask for the habanero if you enjoy the heat. I will definitely return and recommend highly
From the decoration to the menu to the drinks to the appetizers to all the food and dessert selections, this place is wonderful and exactly like the reputation that precedes it. We had the guacamole and the mixed ceviche for appetizers. The homemade nachos apparently that's not the correct word but I don't remember what the actual right word is were crunchy and delicious! The chicken mole dish that I ordered with rice on the side was to die for! Just like I had had it in Mexico a few years back. So authentic! And of course last but not least we had churros for dessert. They were perfect!! One of my friends is celiac and was reassured that almost all the menu is gluten-free, while the other friend had recently had food poisoning so she wanted something that was easy on her stomach and she also got a few options. Definitely going back as soon as possible! I only wish I ate pork because there are many options for pork lovers!
Cozy little spot. Overpriced. Food okay not great. Service is friendly but slow only had one server staffed. When we arrived 530 Friday, it was close to empty. An hour later it was full and we only had been served our chips and guacamole. Which was delicious. And 20 minutes later we received our entrees which was mediocre. Refried beans weren't seasoned. Rice was overcooked. And It didn't seem to have much chicken in the 20$ enchilada. The fish taco breading didn't have a nice crisp. But taste was good. Note they charge for refills. Which wouldn't be a big deal but I was only told at payment and when i mentioned my first icetea was full of ice. She only said sorry and still charged me. Overall I don't recommend this restaurant. update. Owner responded to the review. Informing me I should of wrote I had a gift voucher from a radio station. But this does not change my review. Thanks!
Real Mexican food in Ottawa!! So happy to find a spot like this. Yummy food!! And great prices. The staff is super friendly, too.
Love this place. Authentic food and friendly service. Expect to pay a few dollars more but the quality is well worth it. Will be going back!
Very good. I do review places quite a bit; this place is quite good. For me I ordered the four tacos with a side of rice to go. Had a great chat with the owner Sandro and his wife and staff cook. I was delightfully welcomed but had to go back to work with the tacos and rice. Had the food, and not going to lie, was very content. I can see that people love to eat to get stuffed and a good bang for their buck during lunch hour, but I feel this makes me unproductive. Yes prices can throw off people, I can understand, ... cost of goods too, but at the end of the day, was their an experience? I think so. I am very pleased with the way this establishment is run and could definitely recommend Taqueria Kukulkan to many friends and family. Can't wait to try that Tequila next time on a cold winter day. Great work guys... can't please everyone. :
Just had dinner here. As a coffee drinker, theirs is fantastic, and sugarcane for the coffee was amazing. You may pay a little more here than at other restaurants but I personally have no problem when the corn tortillas are home made and the vegetables are clearly fresh. Excellent service, the owner was pleasant, and the food was delicious! I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.
Tiny restaurant full of Mexican flags and colors. Food was good. I took a burrito and it tasted great. The bread you could feel it was not the average one you find in supermarkets. They had good beer too. As they were only 2 people it took a bit of time but that is the flipped side of the coin I guess
We need more Mexican restaurants in Ottawa! The service from this smiling young lady was top notch, the decor was festive and authentic, and the food ounce we got it was very tasty and delicious. But I was disappointed by the waiting period, as there was only another couple sitting inside the restaurant when we arrived, and it took over an hour to serve 3 of us. A little pricey for my liking but if money or time is not an issue, you will love the food, atmosphere, the music, the home made limonade, and of course the service!
