We arrive on the way to the Dunes for lunch. We are looking for food. This is a nice establishment. I order the soup because it reminds me of Lake Michigan which I will be diving into later. Hot and sour? That's Lake mead in nv. Egg drop, that reminds me of Lake Willamette on the Columbia with that big waterfall cliff. Hmmmm. Westlake? Yes, Lake Michigan is west of Michigan, which the ganders call "the west lake" as opposed to their north and east lakes.
Chinese restaurant but Menu also has Thai food, I ordered the Pad Thai which is a very common and popular Thai dish. It was the absolute worst Pad thai I’ve ever had. Looks like the poured a jar of red sweet and sour sauce and served it on a plate. The most horrible!!
I used to love this place…ever since Covid it has been hit or miss. Lots of the food I recently ordered Happy family, chow fun, combo fried rice and egg rolls had no flavor…. We’ve had some great dishes mongolian beef, singapore noodles but I wouldn’t stray into the vietnamese, thai, or korean food because none of it has been good. All the curries or kimchi dishes seem like Chinese food slightly modified and is nothing like a real thai or korean restaurant would make. Service is always good and the atmosphere is fine but I can’t give it more than 3 stars.
My parents have been here before and my mom has been telling me I need to try it out. We just finished dinner and I have to say this place is amazing! I live in Chicago now and love all kinds of Asian cuisines. I’ve been to many restaurants in the city and I cannot think of any that come close to this restaurant. The variety here is also very impressive. Anything from Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, and more! And all the dishes are exceptionally good! If I could give it more than 5 stars I definitely would!
Crab rangoon was not made with wonton skin but egg roll skin. Horrible taste. General Tso chicken, no broccoli but green peppers & corn!!! Sauce was WAY too sweet. Very disappointed probably will NOT go back. Oh thos was a carry out so I couldnt complain.
Tao Chen's is a family favorite. We usually opt for carry out, but it's a wonderful dine in experience as well! Very clean. Friendly staff. Vegetarian options: Many great vegetarian options.
We visit here every other week after my chiropractor appointment. Love the staff and the food. They treat you like family. Great food, great service. What else can you ask for.
We were on our way to Indiana dunes and looked for place to have lunch. They had good reviews so we dropped by. It's a quite and nice place to have lunch. The food was yummy, everyone enjoyed it. The only problem was the wait time for the food to arrive was Soo much. And when the food was there it was sooo good. Maybe next time we will order before we reach there .
The place was super busy when we arrived. We were seated straight away. The atmosphere is beautifully calming and serene, huge plus there!!! We were served quickly but our food did take quite a while to arrive. It is a mix of Chinese cuisine and Vietnamese cuisine. Everything was separated on the menu but we hadn’t tried a number of the dishes before, seemed very authentic. The food came fresh and quite warm, the servings sizes were very large. We left with at least a full portion for lunch tomorrow.
Oh, my oh my... their chef was in his prime tonight. Had General's Chicken and Kung Pau Beef. They were exceptional in every way. Normally eat half and save half for later... but was tempted to eat all of it in one sitting. Scrumptious!Food: 5/5
