Tai Pan China Café

Awful! Food was subpar and the waitress/ chef was extremely rude. She yelled at me, saying I'd ordered the wrong dish...If it was my restaurant I'd have offered an apology and another dish....Guess they don't want to stay in business....

Really wanted to like the place. Ordered pad Thai and satay beef. The beef was just vegetables with ~5 slices of beef, soaked in a greasy gross sauce. The pad Thai was something... But not pad Thai. More like a curry soup with egg noodles not at all what pad Thai is supposed to be. Yuck. Will not be back.

Foods nothing like l was told it would was suppose to be. No Lemon Chicken etc!! No dumplings, the Mixed Fried Rice was terrible. The Garlic Ribs were Over cooked . Low mein with Vegetables & Beef was weird tasting. Gross actually. Mushy with the Mein Noodles. Second worse tasting, Chinese Food ever! Never ever go back there.

after passing by this restaurant for years decided to give a thai place in mattawa a shot. The pad thai was to salty, to much noodle vs the rest, all bathing in to much sauce. For those having thai for first time or having no other thai restaurant experience to compare with, may find satisfaction eating here.

This is a small Chinese restaurant that seems very dated on the inside. At first I wanted to turn around and leave, but my wife was craving Chinese so we stayed. Glad I did! The food was excellent with huge portions of what we ordered and the server was very friendly. While we were enjoying our meal I noticed a huge number of pick up orders by I'm assuming, are local residents as we were there for lunch. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if Chinese food is what you are looking for.

I love this place. The food is very westernized but still had a great flavor and you can tell it's prepared with love. My favorite is the chow mein, they make it with bean sprouts rather than noodles and it's the best. The owners are very friendly too : stop in if your in town

I've been to the Tai Pan many times. The vegetable are crisp, the meat tender and the dishes flavourful. Every dish is cooked while you're waiting so it is very fresh and hot. My husband and I really like the food here and comparable with any of the Chinese restaurants we've been to in a lot of cities and better than a lot.

Food is usually good, but it depends on what you order. My usual dishes are great but I just ordered the Singapore noodle and it's the worst I have ever had, so terribly bland and for some reason they use small rice noodle instead of chunky egg noodle. Ordered it spicy and there is no spice at all. Very dissapointed, never ordering this again.

Great food! This gem has been our yearly visit when we go camping at Algonquin Provincial Park. We love your vegetarian dishes.

Having read an article about how small-town Chinese and Thai restaurants are often hidden gems of high quality fresh meals at bargain prices, we took a chance on this one when passing through Mattawa. Excellent find, we've eaten there several times so far! Particularly good choices are the Kung Po House Special chicken, BBQ pork, beef and shrimp and Pad Thai either with glass or broad noodles, both only $11.95 and with enough left over for a decent sized lunch for 2. Highly recommended.
