Swiss Bear Restaurant & Bakery

Story

Robert, Swiss Certified Chef, was raised in Switzerland where he studied culinary arts and apprenticed with Moevenpick Restaurant in Geneva. He further sharpened his chef skills within the well established Toronto dining district and later on in London.

Always in search of excellence; with a passion for quality, flavourful food, made-from-scratch philosophy and entrepreneurial spirit, Robert also operated restaurants in Toronto and London before the family move to ‘Swissbearland'; a great area to raise our family and to serve many folks from near and far.

The SWISS BEAR, owned and operated by the Sigrist Family, is a true family, professional venture; cultivating responsibility and strong work ethics in all. While we keep a watchful eye on efficiency, affordability and wait time, we will not take short cuts; from food production to finishing meals on order, everything is professionally prepared, with quality ingredients.

Meals are prepared by Dylan, talented, with skills developed under the mentorship of his dad Chef Robert, in charge of food and pastry production. Kitchen helper, meticulous Nicolas lines our jolly good tarts, created and maintains our Facebook; friendly server, entrepreneurial Olivier also operates our seasonal Schnitzel Express; jovial Joseph ably and eagerly helps in the dining room and with baking. We sincerely appreciate you coming in; Lori is committed to orchestrating your memorable SWISS BEAR experience.

Our unique menus offer European fare along with tried and true classics; enjoy our signature schnitzel simply, or choose from a variety of toppings. Take delight in our made-from-scratch pastries of bearlicious tarts and pies or take home a ready-to-bake savoury pie.

Chef Robert, his wife Lori and the cubs are enthusiastic to establish the SWISS BEAR as one of your favourite dining destinations!

Really enjoyed our experience at this location. Was it more expensive than expected?... yep... but was it worth it? We believe so. The owner was very pleasant, offering suggestions and making sure we had a nice time. She also offered us some nice perks that made us feel welcomed and valued. Portion sizes were very filling and larger than expected so also made you feel you got value for the price. I will say of note that the pouting seems to be made with cheese whiz so if you're not a fan I'd pass but for those who do it made it a bit unique and the kids liked it as it made the fries have more cheese coverage than with just curds. Blueberry tarts were great and the perogies seemed hand made with lots of butter and onions which we love! The atmosphere was relaxing and the little extras, like the stamps and notes on the bags made this a nice stop on our trip.
Fantastic service and fantastic food! I got the single schnitzel meal and it was plenty enough for a meal and more! On top of that, they gave me a small cup of apple pie filling for dessert!
I had a disappointing experience at Swiss Bear Cafe Bistro. My visit was marred by multiple issues that left me regretting my decision to dine there.nnFirst and foremost, I found a hair deep-fried into my food. When I brought this to the staff’s attention, they refused to replace the dish. This level of disregard for basic hygiene and customer service is unacceptable.nnBeyond that, the food itself was far from impressive. The flavors were bland, and the quality didn’t justify the prices. It seems I’m not alone in this opinion—after checking other reviews, it’s clear that other customers have had similar negative experiences with both the food and service here.nnI had hoped for a cozy meal in what looked like a charming bistro, but instead, I left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied.
After finishing the 16km trail at Silent Lake, my husband and I stopped at Swiss Bear Cafe Bistro for lunch, and we are so happy we did! We both ordered schnitzel sandwiches with a large fries to share to dine in, and we were shocked how quickly the food was prepared and even more floored with how scrumptious every bite was! The coffee was fresh and the perfect way to end the meal.nnThe inside of the dining area was as cute as could be, really sticking to the ‘bear’ theme! The owner and staff are incredibly kind and have made us want to come back anytime we are out this way again the food did too but they were just so great!nnThank you a great meal and time!
Amazing cute little restaurant. They serve delicious schnitzel for an affordable price. They also sell freshly baked tarts and homemade frozen meals. Definitely recommended to try this place. The staff are also extremely friendly.
