The poke bowls used to be so good and I'd get them all the time. However last time I went they used different lettuce, a leafier romaine instead of the usual shredded iceberg, and it made the whole bowl horrible. It didn't taste the same and was not enjoyable. It makes me never want to order from here again if they're just going to change ingredients like that with no warning.
The food served here is freshly made everyday and is soooo good. I love The Sushi Shop
Good food. Was able to accommodate vegan options. The tempera is very small for the price maybe like 6 very small pieces. Not a good value. Other than that it was good
I ordered 3 items for pick up, one of which was deep fried. Was told 30mins. Ok np. After exactly 30 mins I go to pick up my 3 items. 1 item was missing on my order...lo and behold its the deep fried item. So I wait another 5 mins for my order to be complete. Paid $40 for my order. Upon arriving at home and starting to dive in, I notice something significant missing from my dish. I called them and they said yeah we can't get it from the supplier so we omit it. I said well had I know upon placing my order over the phone I would have ordered something else. So now that's 2 things wrong with my 3 item order. I asked so what do you do in a situation like this, during covid where I can't dine in and im already at home. "I'll send you a new one. What would you like?" Placed my reorder of a new item. She said we will send it when it's ready. They close at 7pm. At 659pm I called and no one answered. Never got my replacement. Thanks for the poor service once again! Oh, this kind of thing has happened several times at this shop. I only order there because it tastes good. Service sucks!! And that's putting it lightly.
UPDATE: After contacting customer service, they have made up for the errors. I will be giving them an other chance. The food would be good if it was made right. Seems to be every time I order a roll. It's missing something; either masego or sweet potato strings. I always have to call back, this time they offered to ship me masego. If they would offer to send me the full roll with the proper ingredients maybe I would keep ordering from them.
First time ordering. Not the first time having their food but its amazing food. And fast amazing service. The girl that took my order was asking questions to see what i liked to help me choose a good meal and she helped so much. I also walked in at 11:30 and all their combo boxes were prepared and fresh just like they advertise. I would highly recommend this place if you wanted a wonderfully priced sushi meal on the go. I also want to say that the spicy rolls are amazing. Not to spicy but just enough so that there is a bit of heat to your mouth but doesnt over power the flavour
For the most part, the food is great. I like the selection of rolls is far better than Osaka, which I find very greasy as they're all dredged in Tempura. Sushi Shop is fresh and reliable. Which can't be said about the service. Staff are complacent on the phone and often forget items like soy, ginger, and chopsticks. *sigh* Still, worth ordering from though.
I think the sushi is way better than Osaka and much easier to order. The menu has photos and a very good description. Something you don't get anywhere else in town. I have never had an issue with freshness and I also think the pieces are way more creative
August 28, 2020: I’ve always raved about the selection, freshness and taste of any item on the menu. I realize 2020 has been a very difficult year for food establishments but today’s experience was abysmal and just plain disgusting. I ordered an Inferno, rolled so poorly they looked like they’d be smooshed before placed in the takeout container. The tuna tartare maki was inedible because it was much too spicy and couldn’t taste anything else that says a lot coming from someone who thoroughly enjoys spicy food and is quite liberal with the wasabi. The biggest disappointment, because it’s my ultimate favourite item at the Sushi Shop, the squid in the spicy squid salad was hard/chewy. And to add insult to injury on a fairly expensive tab nearly $60...including a tip, the salmon on the Volcano was barely seared and although they gave me an astronomical amount of wasabi and ginger on the side don’t know what that was about, I had no soya sauce containers. None! As for sanitation, in a time when masks are mandatory in indoor public places, while the cashier had her mask on and I had mine, the other employee, the one making rolls, was wearing her mask below her chin.I should have said something right then and there but this is such a hot topic, I held my tongue. So this “experience” gets a big fat ZERO!
My last few orders took over an hour to get dilivered. When I called to ask why I was greeted with a sassy sounding male blamed the driver for not picking it up. It was 1 hour 10 mins late at that time. Today I tried again and my roles sat for so long that the tempura in my role was a literally a paste. Not crunch like I ordered. The same male tried to tell me that tempura is supposed to be a paste. I've never herd or witnessed this anywhere els. Sorry if it's real but I doubt something fried should be almost a liquid. This used to be a favorite spot for me but unfortunately the customer service had driven me off.
