We went on a little mini midweek getaway. Deciding on lunch at Son of a Beach was a great decision. The staff was amazing and attentive to our needs. The food was good the atmosphere was great as well as having the lake right across the street. The decor was on point. Especially if you were looking for the beach vibe. I would definitely recommend giving it a try and taking a walk down the pier at the lake afterwards or stopping for ice cream.
Loved it here! We sat on the rooftop patio, it was. Good time of day so the flies weren't hectic. The drinks were phenomenal! We got the Mermaid fish bowl and the sangria! Both delicious,tasty and refreshing! For food we got the chicken burger and the signature SOB burger. So filling and the price to portion ratio is so great. Our server Gracie was a gem. Highly recommend!
Went here on a Saturday for lunch and it was not too busy. I love the atmosphere of the place, it’s very clean and inviting, and they play great music. The service was quick and the server was friendly. The drinks were delicious and the price is what you would expect at a restaurant. I had the fish tacos which were INCREDIBLE. The fish was tasty and crispy, the pico de Gallo was so fresh, and the sauce was creamy and delicious. The portion size looks small compared to other menu items but it was surprisingly filling and I had to take one taco home. A couple of my friends ordered pizza which looked phenomenal. This restaurant has their own pizza oven so you know you’re paying for some good quality pizza. My friends said it was absolutely delicious. The fish and chips also looked just as good. Took a star off because the truffle parm fries were soggy and the chicken Caesar salad was not very good. Overall, I would definitely eat here again and I recommend this place to others.
Amazing place! Was there in June so could enjoy the place without crowds. Food: delicious, portions are just fine so if you are not SO hungry - 1 dish might be enough. The staff is so nice and friendly. The waiter Zuleyma is the best! Highly recommend to check out the place!
Great experience, we will be back! Excellent, attentive service hard to find lakeside, good cold drinks, and top notch food. The new patio addition has perfect shade for a hot day. Kid's meals and slushies were the best we've had anywhere.
Definitely a great experience last night here. Our server, Katie gave us great service. The food was excellent, especially the Truffle Parmesan Fries. Highly recommended if you ever visit Sylvan lake. Worth every $$ you pay
Waited 30 minutes to get seated on a partially busy day, however half the seats on the ground floor at least, were unoccupied while about 3-4 groups of people are left waiting to be seated. We get seated once our given buzzer buzzes, and then it takes about 5-10 more minutes for our server Kelly to even ask us about drinks. We order appetizers and main courses, admittedly in a hurry as we were hungry, and she made us feel like we were rushing her instead of trying to understand that we waited pre-decided 30 minutes ago and it took another 25-30 minutes just for the appetizers to come out, all accurate times as we used a stopwatch. Entrees came shortly after. The food was about a 5/10 at most. We ordered the white pasta, the sauce was too starchy. I added grilled prawns to my order and they were cooked fine but under seasoned, also felt like it was pricey for 5-6 prawns for an additional $12. Had the steak tacos and it was dry, maybe over cooked, under seasoned as well. The fish tacos were decent, maybe just a little too much chopped tomatoes on it but that’s just preference. The fish was cooked good. We also ordered a steak sandwich and it was the best out of all the things we ordered, seasoned well and cooked the way we asked, medium rare. The grilled cheese was grilled cheese, and it was enjoyed by whoever ate it. Overall the experience was rather dull, long waits, below average food for their prices $180 food order and left a $10 tip, and we felt a little neglected more than anything. Our server asked us if we wanted the bill and we said yes. On her way back to give us the bill, she chatted with two other customers which was across from our table with the bill and the card reader in hand, stayed and chatted for about 3 minutes, then finally turning around to hand us our bill. All this was right in front of us. The only good things to take out of it was, they had good presentations for their food and drink, it was very pretty. Portion sizes were decent as well. Have a good day.
Just had dinner at my favorite spot in Sylvan Lake... And it has only been my first time. This place has an incredible choice of seating arrangements and space to dine the way you like... And the menu is awesome and full of variety! I definitely recommend anytime you are in the area. Great view of the Lake and wonderful place for Parties and large gatherings! See you there!!!!
How does this place not have 5 stars? Menu is more than reasonably priced! Everyone working here is nice and make you feel at ease. FOOD is better than what I had in most major cities. This is definitely the top restaurant in Alberta and one of my top 10 favorite. Keep up the good work and word will get around. It's not easy to run a restaurant but these guys are doing a incredible job!
The atmosphere is lovely and the service on point. My sister and I started with the tapenade. Absolutely fresh and delicious. My sister had the panko crust salmon bowl and I had the tuna tataki power bowl. Both dishes were presented beautifully and had delicious flavour. Excellent place for a fresh, healthy lunch. I will be back.
