I am not a huge Subway fan but there is nowhere else to get a sando for a day out hiking/caving before 10am (when Holiday opens). They open very early (7am?), it is clean and the lady (probably manager or owner) was friendly and attentive. Solid value.

ALTURAS is a long way from almost anywhere commercial & although there are other GOOD places to eat this is in the middle of town & offers the fast, dependable subway sandwich, fresh and healthy. If you are in transit & in a hurry, if it's late or stormy THEY WILL BE HERE. And that means a lot on the road.

I am hooked on their chopped salad. You basically take any sandwich and make it into a salad and they chop it for you which mixes all the flavors. It's delish! Plus the ladies who work there are just a joy. It's my favorite dinner when traveling to Alturas.
