I’d like to give a massive shout out to the hard working medical staff in the Sturgeon ICU. I recently had an unexpected stay, but throughout my entire time spent there, I received nothing but compassion, professionalism, kindness & amazing medical care. I know our health system gets a bad rep, but the hard working & caring people who work on the units give it their absolute all. It’s because of them that I’m home with my family & on the mend. Thank you to all those wonderful nurses & doctors. I’m forever grateful & have a huge amount of respect for your field
My favorite hospital in the Edmonton area by far. If only there weren't so many other sick folks making the wait times crazy high! The ER waiting room can get packed during afternoon and evening periods, try to come in during early morning hours if you can.
This is not a place you want to be but the times I have been admitted I have felt very well cared for. The hospital staff have all been very kind and incredibly helpful. The Doctors I have been appointed too were very kind and caring, it’s a busy hospital but they are very thorough and willing to answer your questions. You get discharged with paperwork explaining your condition, the examination you had and how to treat which I found very helpful because your memory is not the best when you are in pain or tired. I am so very appreciative of medical professionals, and there are definitely excellent ones at this hospital.
Now the nurses were great. The tests were good but everything slow. After 12 hours I was released by the doctor giving me the okay to go home and come in only if my problem gets much worse which it is now. What to do I do not know. I do not want to go through this again another 12 hours.
On the night of May 3, I was in your waiting room with my friend. Wait times are excruciating long, especially for people in pain. Are experience was below average but why I’m writing, is because I noticed other patients in the waiting room, especially a young women and her grown son. Everyone noticed that he was in extreme pain, even lying on the germ infested floor, trying relieve his pain. It was painful to watch but what was worse that the nurses were rude to them and very very uncaring. No parent needs this abuse when your child is going through undiagnosed pain. To a parent, this feels like the end of the world. Where are the nurses sense of compassion. People don’t come to the Hospital waiting room for a fun. They’re there for help to a serious situation. I recommend that your human resources department have a talk with your all nurses and explain to them, why they are here, why they are nurses and if they do not like their job, there are many jobs out there for people with without compassion. I’m appalled by your hospital I will not ever use it, even if I’M dying. Your hospital needs to apologize to these people. The nurses excuses were they’re over worked and short staffed. The hospitals need to pay their staff more and hire more nurses. Maybe the nurses won’t be so cruel and uncaring. Treat all people how you would like to be treated. I feel sorry for these nurses. Karma is always payback.
