Tried Street Momo in Oshawa and honestly, I was blown away The food had such a wonderful Indian touch and every single dish was amazing. We ordered the chili momos, chow mein noodles, fried rice, and tandoori chicken, everything was top-notch and packed with flavor. The momos were especially outstanding and definitely a must-try! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for delicious food and a great dining experience. Will definitely be coming back!
I really wanted to like this place because I enjoy supporting local businesses, but this was a disappointing experience.nnThe service was polite and okay, but unfortunately the food was well below average.nnWe ordered the chicken momos, and they were bland, over-fried, and even burnt in several spots. The filling was very sparse and didn't taste like there was much chicken at all.nnThe biggest disappointment was the chili chicken dry. There was barely any actual chicken. Most pieces were heavily coated in what seemed like all-purpose flour, with very little meat inside. It felt more like eating fried batter than chicken.nnThe restaurant was almost empty when we visited, with only one other table occupied, and after this meal I can understand why.nnI can't comment on how other reviews were obtained, but my experience was completely different from many of the glowing ratings I had read. Based on the food quality we received, I don't feel those reviews reflected our experience.nnI genuinely hope the restaurant improves because I like supporting local businesses. However, based on this visit, I can't recommend it. The quality was poor, and I left feeling that the food was not worth the price. I won't be returning.
Street Momo, OshawannWe recently visited Street Momo in Oshawa and tried a few different items including butter chicken, Afghani chicken, chicken chow mein, steamed chicken momos, and chilli momos. Overall, the place has a nice casual vibe, the service was good, and the staff were welcoming. The food experience was mixed, with some items standing out more than others.nThe butter chicken was decent and had a unique taste. The gravy was rich and had a different tangy flavour, which was not bad, but it was slightly different from the traditional butter chicken taste I was expecting. One good thing was that it was not overly sweet, which I appreciated. However, because the flavour leaned a bit away from classic butter chicken, I would rate it 3/5.nnThe Afghani chicken was a little disappointing this time. When we tried it previously, it was very succulent, juicy, tender, and had a really good flavour. Unfortunately, this visit was not the same. The chicken felt a bit hard and chewy, and it did not have the same tenderness and taste that we enjoyed last time. It was still okay, but definitely not as good as before. I would give it 3/5.nnThe chicken chow mein was just average. It was edible and had decent quantity, but there was nothing very special or memorable about it. The flavour could have been more vibrant, and overall it felt like a basic chow mein rather than something I would specifically come back for. I would rate it 2/5.nnThe highlight of the meal was definitely the steamed chicken momos. They were fresh, juicy, and had a very good taste. The filling was flavourful, and the momos were soft and enjoyable. These were probably the best item we tried during this visit and I would rate them 4/5.nnThe chilli momos were also good in terms of flavour. The sauce had a nice taste and the overall preparation was enjoyable. However, I felt they may have been fried a little longer than needed, which made them slightly hard. If they were a bit softer, they would have been even better.nnOverall, Street Momo is a good place with nice service and a comfortable casual setting. Some dishes were better than others, especially the steamed momos, which I would recommend. However, a few items such as the chow mein and Afghani chicken could be improved for consistency and flavour. A decent experience overall, and I would visit again mainly for the momos.
The BEST momo's.nThe best are the Tandoori momo's and Jhol momo's. Achari momo's coming soon as per the wonderful owner!nSpacious, clean and beautiful restaurant.nThe service was kind and attentive, this location and scarborough do not miss.nMust try if your in Oshawa 10/10!
Visited this place for the first time and had a great experience. We tried the momos, chow mein, chilli chicken, and Manchow soup. The food was amazing and full of flavor.nnThe staff were friendly and helpful. They also suggested some great dishes. Overall, it was a really nice experience.nnMust visit if you want to try authentic Hakka-style Indian food.
