Small location perfect for takeout or a quick meal. I came for dinner, never having tried the original basil box. I ordered the pad Thai fried rice. While delicious, there was simply too much rice and not enough chicken. Even when I rationed every bite there was still plenty of rice to go. Honestly nothing else about my experience here was bad; the Thai iced tea was solid, and service was as fast as could be. But the absurd ratio was enough for me to dock a star.
Tried out the new revamped basil box offering Asian street food and so satisfying! They offer a lot of fusion eats with categories of baos, Mac & cheese, and poutines. Had the double fried chicken bao, the banh mi fries and the malaysian braised beef Mac & cheese. The fried chicken was nice and crispy, juicy on the inside and just so nice with the soft fluffy bao! The braised beef was tender and soft and with every bite of Mac, it was just a perfect flavour combo The banh mi fries had nice crispy fries with the fresh ingredients you would find in a banh mi and making it into a poutine by adding cheese curds. How they managed to blend all these flavours in is beyond me! So good! The staff working here were amazing too! Lots of suggestions and recommendations and super nice about everything! Definitely coming back to try more different options they have available! Great job overall! Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics, vids, and more amazing content!
I ordered the food for take out. When I got home to eat it, the dumplings weren’t cooked properly. The chicken pad Thai had no chicken. I have never been so disappointed in the food. What a joke!
I visited on Wednesday Oct 12. I decide to visit the finch location that Tuesday , and funny enough the same guy serve me when I visited the Sheppard location. I think his name was Darren or Darywn not so sure. To summarize it, he was fantastic, he was nice and really help me with the menu for both location. I ordered the Mac and Cheese with beef as he recommended and fries. The mac and cheese was amazing, I couldn't finish it in one go so I ate the rest later that day and it still tasted amazing. I pick the spicy dipping sauce, it was again amazing. The drink fountain was really easy and straight forward to use. Will be coming back here soon
Food is good and tasty. Definitely filling. Bao's are good as a snack or a meal, depending on how hungry you are.Recommended dishesChicken Bao, Lemongrass Chicken
Good alternative to the myriad of fast food chains in the surrounding area. The food was tastey, but I expected better options for a place this modern. There is definitely no shortage of competition for food in this area, and the density of buildings makes it all possible. A little more effort in the ingredients and prep and this place will be solid.
This place seems to be a favorite with the young crowd. The food was okay. There isn't a large variety of choices but I think that's the point here. The different sauces takes their food up a notch. The serving is one size and is about 300 grams. The facility is clean and kept. They have a nice hot and cold drink menu. The meal will run you about $18.00 each.
I've been here a few times now and while I have heard mixed feedback from colleagues, I've always enjoyed eating here. The 'build your own' approach isn't for everyone but the food always appears fresh and you can always build a good combo from what's on offer. This time around I went for rice noodles, beef with panang sauce, which was a good combo. While it is good solid food, it doesn't make 5 stars because it's not entirely original and I haven't been blown away.
Nice cozy place. Service was fast. Ordered via Foodora app and food was ready before the time said on the app. However, food wasn't that great. Too much rice and too little veggies and meat were given. My biggest problem with the food was the satay steak was not fully cooked! Some were cooked and some were still raw on the inside. I would not recommend this meat option.
I love this place. Definitely a gem on Yonge street. I highly recommend removing basil box from the sign because most people think it’s basil box. This.. This my friend.. Is way better than basil box.
