A busy place on weekends! But they managed to get a party of 12 in. It took a while for food but everyone enjoyed. Little mix up in the kitchen resulting in us missing a meal but they got it out fairly quick and compted it plus were very apologetic. The restaurant is a fun train theme, bathrooms were very well kept especially for peak hours. The food was very good, shared a platter and it was different but I enjoyed. The hot wings are a must have, some of the best I've had! This is a great option if you're staying locally or even driving through! Highly recommend!
We first sat at a table that was way too high for the bonket - the table was up to our chest. Then moved to another table where there was no overhead light, despite a electric socket overhead - had to use phone flashlight to see the menu. The appetizer was delicious and the waitress was accommodating. It's a good thing the waitress memorized the alcohol menu as they don't provide one at all from what we could see. We were going to stay for dinner but didn't want to dine in the dark.
The steak sandwhich could've been A+ if they used a different part of the cow, making the steak a little more tender, as i found it a bit tough. But the Quesadilla was absolutely delicious. The flavors just worked so well. I also fell in love with the tomato soup. It was amazing and nothing felt overpowering. Service was also amazing along with the set up and feel of the restaurant. Taking the whole experience into account, 5 star is deserved.
Small town steak meal at its best. Steak was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Great flavour and everything came out fresh and hot. We had a large group and everything was awesome. Service and speed were great. If you are in town you must visit this place.
An extremely disappointing experience. To start with we were offered a seat whose seat cover was ripped. Even though most of the seats were available, we were offered the one with a torn seat. The server, not the same person who offered us the seats, didn't seem very interested in serving. Maybe because we were the last customers of the day. I ordered soda with lime wedge and received a very flat soda. I complained and she replaced it with another one which was even flatter! She didn't even bother to ask me if the replacement was ok. Coming to the main dishes, the lemon wedge was hiding under the mashed potatoes. The basa was floating in butter. The house salad had bad lettuce pieces. My wife ordered fish and chips and the coleslaw was under the fries. After eating half the fries she realized the coleslaw was hiding underneath. The server did ask how our food was during the meal. So overall it was a disappointing experience.
Amazing food and the service is great. Now my kids want to drive from Calgary just to eat there. We love it, thank you Strathmore Station crew!
This is a great choice for adults and kids. Not too loud generally and Lots to keep your visual senses engaged like a fake train car, history about the engineering that was built around the station and other unknown facts. We ate upstairs but there is a bar/pub downstairs with pool table, etc. Food was VG as well as the service. Fetucini chicken Tuscany was good, plentiful and had lots of flavour. All other dishes were excellent, burger, beefdip and mexican pizza, all worth getting. Beefdip gravy had to be sent back as it had cooled off but came back hot and newly poured. Will be back as it is only a hop away from Chestermere. Located midway through Strathmore on HWY 1.
Very nice, pretty facility with friendly employees. The restaurant could also be seen as a museum, according to all the railway posters and informative texts. Food was fine, decent : It's a really interesting place to visit, can recommend!
We hadn't been to Strathmore Station in years, but thought it would be fun to go for a country drive. There is lots of parking and the restaurant is huge and great for groups. The rustic atmosphere will teach you a lot about Alberta's rail heritage, but the tables and chairs are showing their age and worn with use. Even the display on the TV in our section was worn out. We arrived mid-afternoon and the restaurant was quiet. The service was good and friendly. My husband ordered the beef dip and it was huge! He really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I ordered Mom's Meatloaf which turned out to be an $18 colon cleanser :P It came with a starter salad and a side. I asked for no dressing, but it was served with a dollop of bruschetta on top. Kind of weird, but I was hungry. Some of the greens in the salad were liquifying because they came from a bag. I pushed these aside but in hindsight I should have sent it back. The meatloaf was a hearty portion and the mushroom sauce was delicious. Alas it wrecked the rest of my weekend because I couldn't stay out of the bathroom :P I'd pick something else if we return. Parking: Lots of parking
Honestly, I think the food is a little overpriced. Great setting, service was okay. Of a large group of 17 people, we all ordered at the same time, but my food didn't arrive on time. After a further 15-min wait, I did receive my Pulled Pork Potato Skins. For $19.50, although incredibly tasty for sure, I thought it was overpriced. Considering they were late to provide my meal, they did offer a 50% discount on my dish. However, I just read another review and they'd provided their dish complimentary for the mix up. Be consistent is my message. I'd also like to suggest free refills, especially kids beverages.
