Straits Area Dental

I would NOT recommend this dentist for orthodontist work. He has no bedside manners and tries to intimidate his patents by putting them down. He also will try to take your childs phone if he feels you are not obeying his recommendation. It is inaproprate to touch patents personal property. Spend your money elsewhere.

Great dentist and great staff! No one likes going to the dentist, but they make it as painless as possible.

Do NOT go to this Dentist. Use to be in Mackinaw City, still the same... So glad avenues like this exist so that I can tell others what to expect. Terrible and rude dentist along with unprofessional desk staff. Initial visit talked down to me.....blaming me for my son's dental caries as though I was a child or his companion! Injected lidocaine for an emergency tooth removal but quickly wore off. Never seen my child cry so hard...had to rush quickly to Walgreens to get him Tylenol as this inadequate coverage. On second visit, shoved pink hot molding stuff into my son's mouth, started gagging and with excessive drooling, said he 'didn't care' if the child is in discomfort, the job must be done. Heard him bitching at his staff members (not too hard to hear as the place is an open floor plan with no privacy for individual clients). My later encounter with desk staff just sealed it into the grave why I shouldnt use these people. At first was so mad at myself for not telling him exactly how I felt that day...but, out of respect for my child, I am glad that I didn't. I gladly used the opportunity instead to teach my child about the importance of NOT tolerating mis-treatment by ANYONE. After shopping around carefully, we later went to ORTHODONTIST Dr. Kurshuck of Tipp of the Mitt Orthodontist (a real professional individual...a great alternative).

I really like this dentist and his staff. The receptionist is a very nice down to earth gal, and the assistants are great. His hygienist is one of the most soft hearted people I have ever met. They have never talked down to me, even when I have to stop them to explain something better. Dr. Latoka (spelled wrong probably ) is a total health kind of guy. He helped to begin the process of diagnosing my child with sleep apnea all from what he noticed in his mouth. Made the referal and checked back with us on the topic. He is a type A personality and has a good sense of humor. His whole staff is sensitive and understand the importance of a healthy smile. I highly recommend them!
