This is an amazing new restaurant! Have been waiting to try it out. The food was absolutely divine! I love crab cakes and try them any time anyone is brave enough to put them on the menu in the Midwest. Delicious! And the steak! I have not had such a melt in your mouth filet for years. I highly recommend and they nailed the medium rare beautifully. This is an excellent fine dining option in downtown Aurora. Thank you!
Such a wonderful dining experience! The service was impeccable. Great cocktails with a well curated wine list. Standouts were the fresh burrata appetizer and battered whitefish entree. Stolp Island Social is a lovely spot for a nice dinner in the heart of downtown Aurora. Will definitely be going back!
Had reservations for 4pm before the 5:30pm Paramount show. My dinner date, an 81yo with recent knee surgery, couldn't sit comfortably in the soft low chair-- we asked to be re-seated and the hostess didn't hide her annoyance. I had talked to the restaurant the previous day and mentioned mobility issues. However, the food was outstanding, the cocktails were fabulous, and our waitress Katie was wonderful. Best steak I've had in ages, will definitely go back.
Loved this place! Staff is great-Amy Morton, our waitress Anna, the bartender! Even the chef came to the table to ask how we liked our food! We had an aged steak & mushroom pasta which was delicious. The drinks were awesome served in beautiful antique glasses. The artwork and the atmosphere is very unique. You must go!!
Stolp Island Social is a great place for dinner and dessert in downtown Aurora. Our server, Mark, and especially our waitress, Anna, were amazing, and I could say the same for the food. I ordered the pork, and the meat was nice and juicy. Pairing it with the honeycrisp apple was a joy as it tasted unique and fresh. The dish redefined for me what one can do with pork. Dessert was vanillia ice cream with some amazing chocolate syrup. I also had the Baby Mule non-alcoholic cocktail, and that was very good as well. Another striking thing to note about this restaurant is the atmosphere. The theater and arts are a big part of this restaurant, being situated right next to Paramount Theater. Various quotes line the walls and ceiling, and the place has a semi formal artsy style to it. I will definitely be back many times here to try the other dishes. This is a beautiful hidden gem in downtown Aurora, and I encourage you to come and try it!
The NY strip was *chef’s kiss*. Highly recommend. My husband got the smash burger- although it was good, he wasn’t “mind-blown.” Definitely stick to the steaks. Staff was so friendly and so attentive.
Well let me say I'm impressed that Aurora has a good steakhouse in the downtown area. Been wanted to come here since I have seen it open. I was impressed. I ordered the dry age new york strip and my girlfriend got the filet mignon. It came out cooked perfectly medium rare. Was not fond of the mash potatoes, think they needed some love from butter and milk and smashed more. Drinks were a bit over priced for the serving I feel like they were good drinks but at 8 ounces or less didn't seem like price was fare at $15. Drinks were strong and good. Jerked chicken wings were good but that mango habenero sauce is out of this world. We did the raspberry chocolate cake and it was really good. Overall $250 with tip for 2 people not bad for quality food but work on bringing the drink price down.
Amy Morton @amythemort brings the heart & soul to Aurora with this cute restaurant filled with family favorites, fun quotes, & approachable new American cuisine #sponsored It starts with decorations that are similar to her living room , favorite quotes written by local artists on the ceiling, and bare wooden tabletops to welcome locals & visitors. My favorite quote was, "you don't need a silver fork to eat good food" This restaurant is most known for being right next to @ParamountAurora which will restart their shows this July We started with their burrata with heirloom tomatoes, grilled garlic, country bread & guanciale a fattier cut , similar to prosciutto . Also had their jerk wings - double fried that comes with a house-made mango habanero sauce. It's spicy & sweet, perfect for this hot summer For mains we had their 5-hour lamb Bolognese & honey Dijon salmon you can pick between this or blackened. Last but not least, we had their house-made dessert - a creamy Panna Cotta topped with cardamom, cinnamon & light sugar and a carrot cake cut with cream cheese & topped with a streusel If you're here for drinks, they have a huge bar including cocktails like the gin + bubbly champagne I had, Mocktails like the charcoal lemonade, and an extensive wine list including the super dry bubbly rose from Argentina More on Instagram: @midwestmunching
I got a dry aged Tomahawk and ordered it medium rare… it came out pretty over cooked so that was a bummer, thank goodness they had A1 sauce. Other then that I enjoyed my experience and had a tremendous time. The deviled eggs ere so yummy and the decor is captivating. Oh, 1/2 off bottled wines on Tuesday’s.
This is a really neat place with very good food. My husband and I had dinner there last night. Food was good…. not so much the experience. We felt very rushed. There was no play at the theater, no people waiting in line for a table and yet, we were in and out in about an hour. Pushed to order meal and appetizer at the same time, just barely finished it when entrees arrived. Immediately after were asked about dessert. Place was busy but not crazy. We weren’t there with small children. When we dine at a place like this and spend those kind of prices, I expect at least a somewhat leisurely dinner.
