About

Located on Vancouver Island in downtown Parksville, BC, Stevens & Company is a full-service law firm well known and respected among local businesses and First Nations' communities.

Our firm was established in 1996, and our lawyers provide a wide range of legal services in the areas of wills & estates, civil litigation, real estate law, corporate law, and aboriginal law. We are dedicated to providing our clients with professional and compassionate advice in an approachable and easy to understand manner.

Our People

• Samuel D. Stevens

Stevens & Company is named after our founder, Sam Stevens, who has dedicated his life to serving the needs of First Nations people. Sam is an Algonkian from North Bay, Ontario and a member of the Kitigan Zibi Nation. He has been a practising lawyer since 1985 and was the first director in the Native Law Program at the University of British Columbia. He has also worked as an administrator in the Justice of the Peace program for the Northwest Territories. Sam may be contacted at [email protected] or telephone at 250-248-8220.

• Jennifer Trotti

Jennifer Trotti is Sam’s eldest daughter. Jennifer graduated from the University of British Columbia’s law program in 1994. After graduating from law school, Jennifer worked as a negotiator with the federal government. Jennifer joined Stevens and Company in 2010 and handles complex employment/litigation matters for many First Nations Bands and individuals on Vancouver Island. In addition to her law practice, Jennifer presents many presentations and seminars on employment law, as well as guest speaks at several seminars both on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Jennifer also runs an office out of Burnaby and is available to represent clients on the Lower Mainland as well. • Lisa Holmgren

Lisa Holmgren is a solicitor with expertise in the areas of real estate, estate planning, administration, and business law. Lisa worked for several years as an associate in a large law firm in Vancouver. She brings this experience to her local Vancouver Island clients. Lisa has called the Parksville and Qualicum Beach area home for over 20 years. Lisa's practice is focused on helping clients with the legal matters that arise when buying or selling a home or recreational property, planning their estate, or managing the estate of a loved one. She also advises her clients on business formation, expansion, sales and acquisitions as well as the day-to-day legal matters that arise when running a business.
