Stella Maris Catholic Church

Stella Maris is sweet little Catholic Cburch in the end of Sullivan's Island, SC right next to Fort Moultrie. Stella Mary Church is one of the oldest Catholic church in Charleston. It is beautiful indeed and out. The look of this little church it is pure nostalgia, principally when the bells are ringing. Really enjoyable to pray in this site, making the sign of the Cross at the entrance of the church, and lighting some candles.

While walking on the beach we noticed the tower of this church with a statue atop it, so we drove over to check it out. It was a weekday afternoon and there wasn't anything going on but the church was open. We went in and were surprised how nice it was inside. There was a plaque marking the height of the water, at least 3 feet, that had entered the church during a hurricane a couple of years prior. The church is still being restored.

Apparently the old church is beautiful. There is an overflow building that isn't that pretty, that's what we saw. So the 5* are for the historic church.

Beautiful church. Great location. Walking distance from the water. Simple little church. Wonderful, dedicated priests.

Isle of Palms is a wonderful and intimate area of Stella Maris Catholic Church is the same. The pastor is a fantastic homilist. The organ music is great and the service is fulfilling. I don't know about the other masses in the area, but Stella Maris is not a place to miss for your mass commitment.

Beautiful quaint church with a very solemn and reverent yet beautiful Mass. Music was excellent and homily was very good.

Beautiful old church on Sullivans island with large stained glass windows depicting the mysteries of the most holy rosary. Always love to celebrate the Sacrifice of the Mass at Stella Maris when in the Lowcountry.
