The Management team here do not pay their contractors, particularly their landscapers who always go the extra mile to keep the property looking lovely. They are especially diligent in keeping the areas free of ice and snow during the winter when all has to be ice free by 7am.
My father is in this facility, and he is doing well. I haven't seen anything that causes me concern. Staff are attentive and helpful. It can't be an easy job. My father likes the place and says the food is "surprisingly good." The building is clean and pleasant, with a lovely courtyard.
Stanford Seniors Village is abysmal. My mother was there for 2 months and had to be transferred to Nanaimo General Hospital which we demanded. When she was admitted to the hospital they assessed my mom as having severe pneumonia, low function of kidneys, and total malnutrition. None of which was diagnosed by the attending physician or nursing team at the care home. My mom fell and smacked her head and I was never contacted about this, which is a breach of the legislation. Every aspect of this place, EXCEPT the recreation team are completely inept. I had been in touch with the "dietitian" on many occasions trying to appeal for help as my mom was losing tons of weight while under their care. The dietitian had absolutely no interest and stated she could offer boost.. They charged $100.00 to label her clothes, which many items went missing. Brand new clothes that I brought that still had the tags she never received. She has not been there for over a month and I have since been billed for medications she never received. This is a further illustration of the management's inability to run a care home. I am so totally disgusted with this place and warn anyone considering this place for themselves or for their loved ones to avoid Stanford at all costs.
As a potential employee for this site, I left after 1 hour. Behind the scenes this place is abysmal. Another poster commented that the elderly were treated like cattle. That is what I saw. What a shame. This place is poorly run. If you care for your family - don't send them here. This is a for profit facility and it shows.
This has to be the worst facility I have ever encountered. Left my auntie who has ms and not capable of moving in bed for 20 hours two days in a row. Only One bath a week. Refuses care and service. Cannot believe this can even happen. Would never recommend anyone to bring their loved ones here. Absolute disgrace. Less than one star
Wonderful , bright facility , always very clean , friendly happy staff . Good meals , lots of activities , frequent bus excursions . Dad has been there for 3 weeks with family visiting often . Always impressed .
My father was only here for a few months but the staff that we met were caring and kind.
Shady management, underpaid employees, mistreated residents. Let's hope they don't all transfer over to Berwick when it opens up. Management can't even put shoes on their right feet let alone help anyone in the building.
My 95 year old father with a very failing memory was placed in this facility near the end of Feb/2O18. He will be transferred back closer to his family in Comox shortly. For the time my father was there, he was treated VERY well. He is a talker and craves conversation and not only did I witness attendants and aides and nurses sitting with him from time to time as i came in for a unannounced visit, I also found they 'looked after him' in other sweet and compassionate ways. He has only a few teeth so his meat was cut for him at meals. It was noticed he left the crusts of his bread, sandwiches and toast. After that observation those crusts were cut off for him before they brought him his meals. I and the entire Bieber family were happy and impressed by the level of care the Stanford Facility provided for my father. THANK YOU.
Lovely helpful staff, clean facilities, beautiful courtyard
