Stage Nature Center

About

The 100 acre Stage Nature Center, (formerly known as the Lloyd A. Stage Nature Center) is not just alive and well, but thriving in Troy, MI.

Story

The Stage Nature Center is home to a 100 acre preserve in the heart of Oakland County, MI. The nature center invites visitors to experience nature by following winding trails through upland forests, meadows, marsh lands and an up close look at the Rouge River that flows through the property.

Special programs are offered year round, and are designed for children and adults who seek to improve their knowledge of nature and be inspired by the natural beauty of this preserve, conveniently nestled in a quiet corner of Troy, MI.

Every visitor who walks the trails that surround the Stage Nature Center is likely to witness a variety of wildlife species including deer, bluebirds, chipmunks, squirrels, frogs and more! The grounds are also filled with native Michigan plants including a variety of grasses, flowers and trees.

The Stage Nature Center hosts a variety of programs that are geared towards school aged children who are eager to spend time outdoors and learn all about nature. The award winning Junior Naturalists Club is geared toward children age 4 through 5th grade. This is a monthly program that meets once per month from September through July. Junior Naturalists love to get their hands dirty while completing various projects throughout the year that offer learning opportunities not found in a traditional classroom. This is the nature center's most popular program and is growing consistently every year!

It was very peaceful and beautiful! The deer are at ease with you.
Great wildlife viewing! We saw a mallard duck pair, lots of deer, plenty of birds and turkey. The trails are nice. A great visit.
Go the next to Saturdays and learn how REAL maple syrup is made. Or just go and hike one or all four trails they have. Excellent for kids of all ages.
We love walking the trails, such a peaceful experience and fun to look for wildlife. Trails are well marked, and there are several to choose from of differing lengths. Do wish the very short, paved path was a little longer so I could bring my elderly mom in her wheelchair. Still, a real gem in Troy.
The deer were beautiful. Love the different trails.
It's so beautiful here, it's a great trail for all ages. You can see many different types of animals. There are multiple different trails all different lengths. The center itself is also very fun, there's multiple things to do. The buildings activities are mainly for younger kids but older kids can still enjoy the activities!
It's a beautiful calm and quiet place good for morning or evening walk. A walk inside the woods is peaceful and relaxing. It's a dwelling place for deers, owl, woodpeckers etc. There are small rivers with wooden bridges. Entry inside the woods is free. There are lot of activities inside the building.
Great place to walk - very peaceful, and plenty of wildlife to see.
