Story

The Church of St. Peter has been a major feature of the Cobourg scene for nearly two centuries. It is one of the oldest churches in Upper Canada, having been founded in 1819 before the area even had an official name....

St. Peter’s now has extremely beautiful buildings as well as the facilities needed for a growing, progressive 21st century church community with a stated vision: ‘Lifelong Learning, Lifelong Growing and Lifelong Service in the Body of Christ.’

Jim Weller, Feb. 12, 2008

Mission

“We are part of the whole family of God
created and loved by the Father
redeemed and called by the Son
guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit
As followers of Jesus Christ our purpose is:
to glorify God through prayer and praise
proclaim the gospel by word and humble service, and
to love and support one another in our daily Christian walk
We invite others to join us in fulfilling this Mission."

"Founded early in the 19th Century 1819, St. Peter’s considers itself a 21st Century church. As the only Anglican church in Cobourg, and with large and architecturally significant buildings, it enjoys a major place in the life of Cobourg and beyond. Its ministries are guided by a five-year Strategic Ministry plan within a parish vision of Lifelong Learning, Lifelong Growing and Lifelong Serving in the Body of Christ."

Went to this church for 20+ years. The new priest Rick ran into the ground and it's just a shell of its former self. They've made it very clear if you are not donating money to them that you can go to another church. The whole place is falling apart due to ignoring years of repairs. Yet they somehow had 10k to put in glass doors for aesthetic and they were used for maybe a year. Apparently the roof thats about to cave in the literal sanctuary isn't as important. Don't go there because they'll just try and suck you dry for your money to pay themselves and for very needed glass doors. Extremely poor management over all. Eunice should be ashamed and replaced. Tried to upcharge a group that had been renting their for YEARS from 7k to 14k senior citizen group for playing boardgames, better scam them too! Congrats on ruining a huge part of Cobourg's history and making me question I'm actually Christian due to such disgusting behaviour.
Great place to get warm and catch a few hours of sleep when you're homeless in the winter time
The Holy Crusade here went very well slayed many of the Heretics that were soiling the holy ground with sin. Only problem was burnt my nose on the Baptist candle as a young crusader candle smelled nice though but the brotheren made fun of me
A Church that goes out of it's way to feed the hungry and out cast people of the near vacinity. I personally have been attending the Thursday Evening Dinners for the last two years. I have found it to be a very enjoyable event. As a person that is in a manual wheelchair. Who has paraplegia since 1970. I commend all the staff and volunteers who put on such a large event that feeds approximately 150 to 200 people for dinner and soup lunch that I do not attend. This is a church that Pastor Rick should be proud to be apart off. God Bless Rick.
Did the roof Really nice place
Although I don't attend this church on a regular basis, they put on a marvelous Christmas dinner at lunchtime one day every year! The students from the local high school cook it and it's all free! Good food and fellowship for all! I really enjoyed it!
Highly devoted to their world. Outstanding and wonderful volunteers ! Neighbours were very disappointed in finding out at a costly price their cadaster of land. Their common property line used to be undisclosed. Their board needs a good and fair businessman who should report to their Toronto guarantor.
Some parking, wheelchair accessible. Some parts of the church are under construction
This is a beautiful church. It will be 200 years old in 2019!
It is a landmark in cobourg. Not in service due to covid.
