The meal was okay but there were many flies around the table and the steak was a little bland. Either the steak wasn't very fresh or it needed more seasoning, it also arrived to the table a bit warmer than room temperature which means it sat there for a bit though we were a group of 8 so I'm not too disappointed regarding that. The steak was cooked medium rare as requested and was very tender; 5 star in that regard. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options clearly marked
Rung in the new year here...great start to 2023. Got the see a tragically hip tribute band and they were amazing. Was too late for dinner. But drinks flowed well, along with GREAT service.Service: 5/5
My wife is Gluten intolerant and it is hard to find a place that caters to this ever growing issue with people. Our server was very patient and accomadating. He knew his menu very well and was able to make some suggestions which made for a great dining experience.Food: 5/5
The service here is so bad it is literally unbelievable. Saturday night at the only private golf club in the greater Moncton area, expectations are pretty high for an establishment like this. Drink service was fast, and then everything was downhill. Appetizers came for the table except for one person's, which showed up after everyone else was already finished theirs. Mains showed up missing requested sides, gravy etc. Steak knives were not provided. Had to be requested. Salt and pepper were absent from the table, again had to be requested. Water refill did not occur during the entire meal. We all skipped dessert as we could not wait to leave. This is a small restaurant, for a staff of at least 8-10 bar / waiter staff it is completely unacceptable to have a dining experience like this at a private club. For the price of food and drinks the service received was simply awful. Food was of decent quality but absolutely nowhere close to 5 star. Multiple people ordered rack of lamb, mediocre at best even cooked medium rare. One ordered pork loin, chef "forgot" to put the dressing on it? Arrived separately in a bowl, literally just maple syrup & cranberries. Overall this restaurant is merely a high end pub, which is of very poor quality for "high end" private golf course in Dieppe.
The ambience was really nice. We got seated and served promptly and there was live music playing Friday night around 7:30pm. We got the lobster Mac n cheese as our starter $30, it was very tasty with large pieces of lobster but it was a little small for the price. I’m glad we got it as an appetizer. I think as an entree it wouldn’t have been enough. The seafood chowder was exceptionally good and my friends very much enjoyed their meals as well. Overall great experience.
Busy location, year round! Good sized restaurant with two additional rooms available. Efficient staff. Great food with same menu and quality as the Main Street, Moncton location. Clean bathrooms. Large parking lot. Live entertainment some evenings.
Great spot, friendly staff and good beers on tap! My only complaint is add-on food pricing. I had Kung Pao which is priced ok, and you can add chicken, beef or shrimp for an extra $8. There were 3 tiny pieces of chicken which I had to actually search for in thinking they forgot to add the chicken to my plate! It was laughable honestly for an extra $8!
We arrived 30 minutes after opening and couldn’t find any staff. We sat ourselves and took our own menus. The waiter showed up approx 20 minutes after that and took our order. My wife had the tuna poke bowl and a white sangria. The drink wasn’t very good and the poke bowl was ok. I had a water and the fish tacos, which were fantastic. Highly recommend. My wife, however, got sick about 60 minutes after leaving the restaurant. The way she felt, she suspects it was the food hard stomach, etc. Perhaps the tuna? Although we’re not certain, it was the only thing she ate in that time frame. We reported it to the restaurant. 2 mains, 1 drink, 2 coffees, tax & tip: $65
After driving all day and settling in a Moncton area hotel we then searched for a unique place to have supper. We chose St James Gate. Unfortunately when we arrived and went to the front door they had a drawn paper sign in the door indicating they were closed to the public due to a private function. They did however continue to post on this site their live feed indicating that they were busy as usual. So they get no score from me tonight because if they can post a live feed indicating how busy they are they could have at least posted that they were closed to the public today as well.
Before writting this review, I'd like to mention that I've been a patron of the downtown Moncton location for a number of years and take joy in their prolongued consistency and their creative menu. It was my first time visiting the Dieppe location as the Moncton one did not have room for our table of 5 on such short notice. Our reservation for a table of 5 guests was made for 18:30. We arrived at 18:30 and we were greeted at the entrance by our friendly host, Terry. She brought us to our dinner table where glasses of water and menus were already placed ready for us. This location is situated on a upper class golf course. The ambiance and decorations are reflective of this fact. It is a large, high ceiling open floor plan with a bar area and tables organized by section with some artificial walls and plants dividing certain sections. There are normal tables with diner chairs, along with other tables being elevated a bit higher with tall stools. Because of the open floorplan and the acoustics of the high ceiling, it is quite loud with everyone talking, albeit being manageable if sitting close to each other. We were also unaware that there would be a live acoustic performance. Although the musician was quite skilled and was playing familiar classics, the music made it exponentially more difficult to communicate between each other while sitting. Our table orders drinks, appetizers and our main course. The drinks come quickly along with the complementary warm bread and honey butter which is traditionally served at St James Gate. Our meal ticket was nothing extraordinary nor required complex assembly. It was 3 bison burgers 2 with fries as a side, 1 with gate salad 1 California sandwich with fries and 1 smoked chicken carbonara.About 35 minutes later, the appetizers are served. It consisted of 2 spinach dips served with toasted pita covered in melted cheese, all of which was delicious.Another 30 minutes pass, the apetizer plates are collected and a second round of drinks are offered, but no secondary loaf of bread is mentioned. Between 5 people, the delicious loaf of bread did not last very long.At this point it is almost 20:30 and we are offered another round of drinks. Only 2 people order drinks, while everyone else waiting impatiently for their meal. At this point we had become mildly irritated and disconcerted at the prolongued wait time. Eventually the food appeared around 20:55. Because it was 5 separate meals, the meals were brought out in quantities of 2, with my chicken carbonara being the last. While I was waiting for my meal, I could tell the others weren't quite pleased with their food, as it was served lukewarm or borderline cold. 2-3 minutes later, my chicken carbonara was served fresh and steaming, which gave the others the impression that my meal was the cause of the delay and the cause of their meals being served cold.None had much complaints about the actual burgers or sandwhich, although the main point of of contention was the fries
