Spring Garden is an old school Chinese restaurant in New West. It's been a few years since I last visited and things don't look like they've changed much. The interior is nothing to write home about... The walls could use a new paint job and the seat covers are showing signs of much wear. But if that doesn't bother you, you can find some good eats here. Dropped by for dim sum. Free parking in the back. Don't be discouraged walking in through the back door. Some of the items we liked included the deep fried sesame balls with black sesame filling. These came our hot and fresh and the black sesame was perfectly oozing when we bit into them. The beef brisket rice roll hot pot was also really good with tender beef brisket and a yummy sauce. A few misses were the pork bean curd wraps the filling just seemed very different than I'm used to. Other items were pretty much down the middle like the spareribs, siu mai, prawn spring rolls and the chili wontons which aren't very spicy.
This was my first time here and the food was amazing and so was the service I would so recommend this place to anybody who wants good Chinese food definitely go there and try it even though it's a small place they have very good food and the portion size is amazing
A Chinese family bistro offering dim sum and small fried dishes as such Chow Main and fried rice noodles. Comfy atmosphere like being at home. Conveniently located on 8th Street in New Westminster. Price is reasonable.
The prices for dimsum are on the high end side of things 6.50 a plate. I would not have an issue with this if the place was modern and renoed. But it still looks like 1980 inside so i will have to knock off 1 star. I have had ever so slightly better food at golden swan but this quality here is good.
One of the rare dim sum locations in NW. Rice flour roll with diced fish is good and hard to come by in Vancouver. The rest of the dim sums are quite delicious!
This restaurant does not spend much effort on the presentation or appearance of their dishes - you definitely won't get any "foodporn" quality snaps here. The place itself is also a little dingy and hole-in-the-wall looking. BUT, and I think way more importantly, they did put a lot of effort into the taste and texture of their food! The bbq pork, although lacking the signature bright red coloring, was yummy and tender. The siumai were juicy and umami. My favorite was the spare ribs - they were crazy tender and had great flavors. Not the best dimsum in the area, but it's cheap and decent. When you're looking for a dimsum fix, it does the job.
Great tasting Dim Sum! It has a more homemade vibe and taste to it than the other dim sums I've been to in Greater Vancouver.
Good place to go for some solid dim sum. Friendly service and decent portion size. The Singapore vermicelli was terrific.
I've been here on and off very occasional for the past few years. I've had their dimsum, though, seldom, and it's decent not great but I usually have a dinner entree. I just visited again tonight and I must write a review: the quality of food has definitely plunged from where it started it wasn't amazing to begin with but we decent. In the picture, it looks fine on the surface, but, once you uncover the seasonal vegetables Gailan, they're all yellow they're majorly old. The beef was fine but with 75% of the dish filled with vegetables, it was unacceptable to be served such old and tough greens by 'tough', I mean 'aged' or not tender and smooth. I was already warned that the rice was extra wet and soft tonight but that doesn't bother me. So, no complaints there. I also ordered the spicy wontons - they were not spicy. Half of them contained cartilage. Overall, I was rather disappointed with the food. It was not fresh. I may give it another try some time later but I can't see myself returning yet. After tax and tip, I paid $25 for it. I can only wonder if they gave me extremely old vegetables because I would've picked the food up instead of eating in. I originally ordered for takeout but decided to eat at the restaurant - that's why you see the plastic takeaways.
Awesome dim sum place in new west! If you are around the area! Come check it out. Love their spring rolls, sooo good!
