We planned this trip to see the fall foliage and it would be my wife's first train ride. We arrived and waited in line to board but needed to use a restroom. Fortunately there was a coffee shop nearby that we were able to use. The train was nostalgic which was pretty cool and the conductor was very informative. We didn't see much scenery at all just mostly neighborhoods and factories. The most scenic part of the trip was the the River Raisin area. I like that they're trying to keep the railroad alive and active. I usually don't give two or less stars but we weren't impressed.
I have never done a one star review but I have to be honest although I feel bad for doing it. We paid nearly $15 for our tickets and the quality was just not good. Apparently the weekend before the coach with windows was out of order so they put us in a caboos. The caboose had little windows we had a bunch of people crammed together trying to look outside the tiny window. People were put on bunkbeds and some people were forced to stand. Conditions were very dirty. I understand that the coach broke down but we should have received an email before hand warning us so that we have the option to not participate. We drove over an hour to come there we should have been told. The town was very beautiful and enjoyable. As far as calling the train ride scenic is debatable. There were some pretty views but mostly you’re riding through subdivisions.
This was NOT a scenic train ride. It was somewhat enjoyable, but don't get your hopes up. Train runs through brush and all you see is backs of homes and commercial buildings. The museum isn't a museum at all. The volunteers were friendly and the town is quaint, but that's about it.
This was the worst ride and trip and experience I have ever had. We had a bachelorette party over the summer of 2016 and there was fruits flies, horrible show, too many loud groups that were drunk, food was absolutely horrible and there were bugs in our appetizer and food and drinks. None of us had fun at all. I have been trying to call the 1 800 number that was given to me for a refund ever since I got off the train. I even spoke to the lady who was the Manager that day and she refused to help me on the spot. I have food allergies and I stayed that in the reservation and still they didn't comply with it...the food even looked and was covered in total grease. It was horrible and I am still trying to get my $90 back from them. That was the cost of the ride; food; show; and drink people. The show was so inappropriate. Was disrespectful to women and was not funny at all. I'm still trying to Demand for my money back. Do not ever take them ever for rides or party.
This is really a total rip off and disappointment!! No thought or time was put into this "Fall Colors Tour" We went on Halloween and the ride is through backwoods bush country. If you want to see the back of homes and storage buildings and unattractive country, then you may find this interesting. The building they called a 'museum' -where they put out cups of cider and bagged up donuts- was a run down ugly, filthy building filled with junk with a unisex bathroom that was in the back room that included a urinal and 2 stalls one out of order. I asked how long they had been doing this ride and the one volunteer said since the late 1980's!! I thought it had just started and that's maybe why everything looked in such disarray. Put a little effort into cleaning the train and maybe offering a little resemblance to what the website is stating that is being offered. Hope the "volunteers" enjoy all the cash that they make on this joke of a ride. It's obvious that none of the funds are being redirected into the operations or upkeep of this historic railroad. This was a total waste of time and I was not even expecting much from this...just a nice little train ride in a quaint town to enjoy the season. I couldn't find any of that here. We enjoyed our ride and the scenery driving down US 23 in our car much better!
Fun short train ride from Tecumseh to Clinton and back..option of a coach, gondola or a caboose...homes on this route had their own show for this ride especially an Indian Tiki establishment with an Indian chief hailing you
Well done keeping these old beasts running.
Great little hidden gem. All volunteer organization that manages to keep going year after year in a challenging world.
Fun rides out in open. Nice thing to do with the kids.
Fun and scenic, especially during the fall festival season.
