AMAZING and RARE authentic Korean Street Food hidden in one of the most beautiful places on Vancouver Island. Simple and quality ingredients, rich flavors and delicious sides. Soul's Toast is well worth going out of your way for and one of the only Korean Street Food restaurants on the West Coast of Canada. We shared the Shrimp Soul's Toast sandwich which features a delicious house-made, tempura-style shrimp patty on top of cabbage, sauce and egg. You can choose from any one of the five main items on the menu and also make sure to get one to go... because one will not be enough!
Not going to lie – we drove specifically to chemainus just to try this unique place and it did not disappoint! We shared the angry tuna and shrimp toast and both were very good. The angry tuna has a nice kick and is a little spicy, while the shrimp toast is very flavorful. The owner is extremely nice and came to check up on the meal while we were eating. The neighbourhood is also really cute and worth walking around as well. Looking forward to my next trip out there to have another toast!
Finally made it down to Soul's Toast! Tried the #3 Angry Egg Toast and potato puff fries. The toast brought me back to the street food I had studying abroad in Korea 10 years ago, grabbing some egg toast to go at subway stations. Overheard a couple from Victoria say they’d driven up just for this. Definitely stop by if you have the chance!
Went here because of all the great reviews and very happy to say it's one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Got the Soul's Toast and the Angry Egg Toast pictured, and there was so much great flavor. The place itself is very small with a couple tables for eating in, but down the street is the beach with plenty of benches and picnic tables and I highly recommend taking your food there to eat it with a beautiful view. Extremely nice service, fantastic prices, and great food! The kind of small restaurant where the passion in the food is immediately felt.
Tastiest foods you can find! Soul is always welcoming and happy to see you : His flavours are so refreshing! Today I tried the #2 angry tuna sandwich and it’s now my favorite! We love coming here every week and adore the fact we can even take out and eat at the beach! If you’ve never tried you will get hooked!!
This is a hidden gem. Craving lunch? Don’t miss this. I came all the way from Duncan for lunch. It was soooo good. Flavour was amazing. The Potato Puff Fries were perfect. Will be back again!
I was quite skeptical with the 5 star reviews for a sandwich shop, but boy was I blown away. I finally got to try this place as my dad had a meeting around the area. I called, but there was no answer. I was concerned since we were going near closing time that they might not be able to accommodate our order of 6 sandwiches. To my delight, he called back and happily accepted our order. When we got there, we were greeted by a very friendly man. He was making our orders fresh and even gave us free potato puffs. You can tell he really cares about the quality of his products! The store was cute and centrally located in the Chemainus area. We ordered 6 sandwiches 3x shrimp, angry toast, 2x gravy and angry tuna, potato Puffs and onion rings. The friendly guy even introduced us to the stamp card, filled it out and gave us a free drink because we had ordered 6 sandwiches. These are very reasonable priced sandwiches and hefty too! Delicious and healthy ! We loved the shrimp sandwich the most and just a warning to you all that the angry sandwiches are actually spicy, but in a good way! All in all, we highly suggest visiting this small business whenever you have a chance! Would come again and again.
Hidden gem in Chemainus in this quaint little breakfast and lunch shop operated by Soul a super friendly owner creating Korean Street food sandwiches. Come with an appetite, it'll last you all day. We would have had a picture of an acutal sandwich, but they were too yummy!
A must eat in Chemainus! The owner was warm and welcoming and made our brief stop truly memorable. And the sandwiches! We had the shrimp patty and original toasts and both were absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
We stopped at Soul’s Toast for lunch after a weekend on Thetis Island and was really impressed with the service and the tasty sandwiches! We got the Original and the Angry Tuna with gluten-free bread, another Angry Tuna with regular bread, and the fries with Parmesan cheese as a snack - all delicious! Friendly, fast service to get us back on the road quickly. We will be back to try the other flavours!
