Such a little gem of a place and packed with artifacts and lots of good background info on the history of the area. The gift ship is well stocked with a lot of nice quality items such as jewelery, scarves and ceramic mugs. There is also a lighthouse and a number of large pieces of old logging equipment on the grounds which are interesting to view. There is a nice green space and a few picnic tables if you want to take a break here. Additional bonus is this museum houses an Info center so you can ask the staff any questions you may have and pick up helpful brochures. Washrooms are also available here. This is a great pit stop if you want to learn about the Sooke area.
so many ideas for gifts for families. the history is very interesting and worth the visit on a rainy day . In the summer there is the Thursday Market from 5-8pm with food trucks and vendors as well as live music! it is really a nice ambience. !Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This is a really quaint place to visit. It's not the most interesting, but the atmosphere is really nice. I recommend going to check them out when there's an event so there's more to do, that would be really worthwhile!Visited onWeekdayWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedNo
Nice place for family and kids, many information and old stuff in the museum. It's free, but normally cash donation by exit. Many mosquitoes out side, need OFF for whole body.Visited onWeekdayWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedNo
A delightful place to explore! The museum was full of amazing things to see, and Aunt Tillie’s house was a joyful foray into history.
What a quaint and well appointed Museum, Recent visit was lovely one can spend a few hours here. The gift shop is well stocked and has a great selection of local art, books, clothing and more. Something for everyone and all budgets.
A fantastic pit stop on your way to Juan de Fuca. The staff there are super friendly and can share insights on attractions and seasonality expectation. There are also lots of resources free to take that can help you gain some knowledge about particular attraction points. The historical equipment and items were very neat, love the knowledge shared along with some story telling audio display. Please don't forget to support this location and get some post cards or merchandise!!
