I recently visited Montreal and went to 4 different record shops. Sonarama was the only place I bought anything 5 records. They have lots of square footage, making the experience and selection quite broad. The prices were also appropriate. Unless you are looking for something rare, I don’t see a point in going anywhere else!
I had a super enjoyable trip here over summer holiday and found some really nice records. The owner is a gentleman with fine taste in music.
I met with the owner to sell some 45rpm and 33rpm vinyl records. The owner went through my records and purchased about six 45rpm records and for which he offered between $1-$2 each. The owner was courteous and polite. His store is cleaned, well lite, and has a nice ambiance. I would definitely recommend Sonorama Disques to buy or sell vinyl records.
Great for used CDs. CDs were in good condition.
I recently checked out Sonorama during my first visit to Montreal. The shop was clean, well organized, and easy to navigate. The gentleman working was friendly and welcoming. There's lots of used and new vinyl to dig through. I did like that they were kept separate. A big plus in my book. I found lots of stuff here, some of which I have not come across in any shop before. Most of the records I looked at were clean. Lots of genres for all tastes too. They also had cassettes and CDs as well. I really liked Sonorama and would definitely return back someday.
I try to avoid record stores in or around the Plateau-Mont-Royal/Outremont area given their scarce and pricey selection of R&B and rap vinyls and vast pretentious and snobby employees, but Sonorama is the exception to the rule and reason why I make the long-drive from my home to the borough roughly once a week. Aside from having one of the biggest collections of used R&B and rap vinyls and friendliest record store staffs on the island of Montreal, most of their prices are fair and negotiable. And the place itself is a perfect reflection of the employees in it since it is a pleasure to be around and deal with. Cozy, neat, well-organized and plenty of elbow room to maneuver, the boutique's setup makes it easy, convenient and effortless to browse the contents within its spacious record bins and give four-out-of-five stars to. Now, if only it would relocate outside of Outremont/Plateau-Mont-Royal. I heard Ville LaSalle is nice.
This place is incredible! I've been searching for an album Learning to Crawl by the Pretenders for over a year now, and when I asked the attendant for it, they just grabbed it immediately! Felt like a miracle.
Super awesome little record shop, very good prices as well
Great store, tons of records but not a huge selection for pop music.
