Smoky Mountain Pizzeria Grill

About

Smoky Mountain Pizzeria Grill is a dynamic, casual Italian restaurant concept dedicated to our customers and their dining experience.

Story

The first restaurant was opened by David and Jerry Todd in Ketchum, Idaho, during the winter of 1991/1992. They saw the need for a restaurant that offered a casual dining experience coupled with a quality menu, so this is what they set out to do.

The company is currently operating eight locations, seven in Southern Idaho and one in Sandy, Utah. The growth of the company is due, in large part, to the outstanding individuals that make up the restaurant teams. While the strength of the Smoky Mountain concept is a great foundation, the company’s ability to attract talented and capable individuals is the true source of success.

I always ask for extra sauce on my pizzas because I don’t like dry pizzas so I asked for extra sauce. If they put extra sauce I’d hate to see what normal sauce is. If you can run your finger across the pizza and not a spot of sauce is present, it’s a DRY pizza. And ‘ supposedly‘ this had extra sauce. So I thought I’d ask for sauce to dip the pizza in which they gave me which did help. As for toppings, I could see some sausage but the pepperoni was almost nonexistent. They might have chopped it up it may have blended in with the ‘sauce’. The fresh basil was good though. Also, where’s the cheese??? So when I was done I asked for a box and a small container of sauce to go with it. To my shock, they charged me $2.50 a small container of sauce x 2. Service was ‘fair’. Needless to say, this will be my last visit to this place. The pizza chains such as Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Papa John’s all have better pizza. Skip this place.
Great place for pizzas. The 12” medium pizzas are larger than you think. Got the 12” thin crust Ketchum combo and was more pizza than expected.Recommended dishesKetchum Pizza
Historically, 5 stars. Today, 3 stars and a lost customer. Some of my family lives up here and I enjoy ordering pizza everytime I visit. Today, we received a raw pizza and upon complaint, the management was minimally understanding and minimally polite. I was told to order it "extra done" in the future. Essentially, it was inferred that my personal taste found the pizza to be raw, not by their mistake, although they still refunded us for the pizza. I seriously would have eaten it if it was just slightly raw, but I took a bite of the crust and had to spit it out. Uncooked dough is just gross. We'll be cooking it tomorrow and looking into other restaurants for the future. If you're in a pinch and want food, it will likely be just fine. Just recommending you look elsewhere for better service.
Okay but their food is actually really, really good and I have a photo of what I ate to back it up. I forgot the name of the dish but this is a pasta bake. Friendly staff and comfortable place to relax too. Food price is slightly elevated compared to most prices in Idaho.
This was the best chocolate cake I've had in a long time. It was bigger than my fist and the perfect amount of chocolatey and spongey! The woman who took my order, I originally told her just one piece of chocolate cake but she said they were really good and if I wanted two so I said sure... good thing because these are too good to share! I don't normally like vanilla bean ice cream but there's is just the right amount. Cheese pizza was very good. Almost no sauce which I prefer because I like more of a cheesy bread kind of pizza. The kids chicken salad was better than most adult side salads at other restaurants. Chicken tasted fresh and not over cooked or rubbery. Lettuce was also crisp and fresh! Kids chicken and waffles were also a yummy little snack although I wish I had asked for ranch but the syrup for dipping was good too. Everything was only $40 not bad for two pizzas and two kids meals especially of this quality. I would spend that much alone at pizza hut and get a greasy disappointment. 10/10 would recommend to anyone locally or traveling! Also thought it was cute the kids meals came with a bag teddy grahams each!
Seriously the best place to eat in the valley. I've heard a lot of people talk about this place, but it's better than expected. They seated us quickly, the menu was explained in detail, the food was amazing, and the waitress was fantastic. They offer pizza, pasta, salads, burgers, and dessert. The establishment was clean and people really seemed happy here. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There's even an arcade room for kids to play! Our waitress was from Poland. It was neat to see that they had hired a foreigner as she was only working for the summer months. She told us what she loved to eat, what she liked about the area, and guided us to even try out an appetizer and some dessert. I think we got the full treatment. We drove an extra 20 miles to eat at Smoky Mountain versus some other closer options and were not disappointed. The prices were quite reasonable for a high quality meal. I would most definitely eat here again.
The pizza was pretty tasty and it was done fairly quickly. I ordered the XL and medium pizza and was a little disappointed by how much crust was on the XL.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: Yes
Delicious pizza! We had pepperoni/pineapple/black olive and "The Smoky". Great, friendly service! We will be back again for more pizza!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: Yes
Two stars mainly because the Caesar side salad carried the rest of the food and the delivery to the hotel was fast. Pretty much everything was bland. The Brie puff pastries tasted more like puff than anything else even with the good amount of Brie in them. The Bacon Mac & Cheese with chicken and Chicken Teriyaki Fettuccine didn’t have enough flavor to merit a meh. The bacon in the Mac & Cheese was the only hint of flavor. I ended up eating only the chicken & the bacon because it’s a cardinal sin to throw away bacon. The penne noodles & the fettuccine noodles were rubbery. The sauce on the Bacon Mac & Cheese was completely flavorless. Also, the mix of teriyaki and Alfredo sauces had just enough hints of a flavor profile so as to make it completely a completely weird combination. Neither sauce had enough oomph to carry the dish. The garlic bread it was served with was a pale imitation of the real thing. The apple crumble didn’t have a passing familiarity with an apple, crumble, or spice flavor. I hope that the pizza and other dishes had enough of a flavor profile to warrant ordering them. As it is, I wouldn’t want to take the chance that the rest of the menu would be so distinctly flavorless. I wish I could say the items were too salty, too creamy, or overwhelmed by one taste or another. Doing so would require that there actually be a flavor with which to make it stand out and at least taste bad.
Went here twice in two days - first visit was 5 stars, second...not so much. Tried the pizza, garlic bread and Heart on Fire salad, all of which were very good. The first visit we had great service despite a busy restaurant. The second we had to go to the bar for refills and to pay because our server disappeared. All in all, great place for some food, but bring your patience.
