Skal by the way simply means Cheers! Open from 5 - 11 daily for dinner, drinks and snacks and take out.Grab your shield, no swords allowed, your horn and sail on in to enjoy an Odin God of War Caesar, or Thors Thunder yes he was God of Thunder, or if you’re feeling a bit more refined than your average Viking, sip on one of our curated selections of Whihskey. A true Norseman’s favorite!Welcome, Velkomin, Skal!"

Staff is friendly although service is super slow. We ordered one burger and fries and 1 beer - 45 min later no food and no follow up for another drink. Paid for beer and left. There were only 20 customers and 3 servers. No excuse. Also, we were here 4 weeks ago and loved it .. Happy Hour drinks and menu and a great server. This time, the menus is upgraded prices too - $9 soup, $12 dessert, etc and no happy hour offerings. Things have changed so good luck if you decide to dine here!
Would not recommend for breakfast, eggs were not over easy barely any yoke for dipping and family members eggs were not soft, took a while for breakfast to arrive. Laura was a good waitress, she gave us $10 off our breakfast for the mistake. Cook needs to be trained on how to cook eggs. Also could have a few more options on breakfast items.
Kind of hate to jump on the bandwagon, but there's something to be said about about the quality of service. I came with a friend for a drink and I wanted some food, so I asked for a recommendation from the waiter. He was honest about how overpriced the food was, but a bit abrasive and off-putting. I tried the Mushroom Ravioli. It was good 7.4/10, but not worth $27. I drank water with it because of the price. I also have no frame of reference for ravioli quality. The other reason for the low rating was the server apparently made an insensitive comment about First Nations people to my friend just before I arrived. That's not okay.
There is not sufficient delineation between the “bar” and the “restaurant” for someone who’s never been before. They are conjoined with little in the way of separation and the staff move freely between. The doors are not well marked to suggest they are separate either, I didn’t even know there was another entrance originally as it’s down a whole different hallway. When I went into the bar side at opening around 5pm, I wasn’t greeted and after inquiring, I was met with a gruff “anywhere is fine” so I chose a small booth since I was alone. It took quite some time for a server to come over to me and when he did, I asked for a coffee. He told me I was in the wrong side, as the bar side is for drinking and if I just wanted coffee, I’d need to go to the restaurant side. I packed up but didn’t make my way over to the restaurant side, I just left and I won’t be back. The incredible part is that I had been there the night before and was served a coffee while sitting in the bar…
Small Menu, Inedible food, expensive bill, Rude server. Order 2 burger combos, for $50 total. both burgers were so red they were inedible. beyond rare. I went down to ask for a refund, and the serve was extremely rude, scoffed at me, and told me to talk to front desk in the hotel instead of dealing with it themselves. I will never buy the over priced food at this place ever again.
Don't usually expect much for food but at a minimum like it hot. Cold fries are not good. Servers don't seem to care about customer satisfaction. Went to hotel front desk to get snacks and only chocolate bars. Mentioned not pleased with restaurant and got a shoulder shrug from staff. Feel bad people have to pay so much for a underwhelming hotel.
Slowest service I have ever gotten in Thunder Bay. I stood at the entrance for like 20 minutes and the staff are in no hurry to get to the other customers. I drove all the way here from Mem Ave. Never eating here again.
In the process of Remodeling after a kitchen fire. Had a breakfast buffet that had fruit, muffins, sausage. Perfectly cooked bacon, eggs, waffles and more. Susan was very friendly.
Rude and inattentive waiter. Food was fine but grossly overpriced for what it was. Service was also quite slow.
Susie is wonderful. My husband is Celiac and she ensured everything was perfect. As we are travelling during these uncertain times, she made the evening fun. Her easy charm and wonderful.personality made our meal great. It is comfortable, accessible food for the traveller. Thanks Susie!
