Excellent and authentic Ukrainian diner. While the menu isn't extensive, they serve 'real' Ukrainian food, desserts and even drinks at very good prices. Дуже смачно і дякую!
I absolutely loved everything about this place staff were super friendly and food was great. I wanted to try as much as possible so I got the kozak meal it comes with cabbage rolls, sauerkraut pierogies and Ukrainian sausage and I also got the mamas soup which is chicken and dumpling soup. The cabbage rolls and soup were my favorite parts of my meal sausage and pierogies were also good.
Best Perogies I have ever had! Cabbage rolls were also very good! Garlic bun is a hit with me! Reminds me of my late grandmas kitchen/food, haven’t had anything like this since 2004! Was much needed! Will be back!!!
Excellent food! We had Borschtsch, Mama's chicken soup, "the top ten" mixed plate of cabbage rolls and pierogies as well as blueberry pierogies as dessert. I would like to have more!
Meh. No complaints at all about the food, delicious! Homemade perogies was a plus. Water tasted like tap water, restaurant ambiance could be better cold fluorescent lighting and you can't order a dish of perogies, cabbage rolls and kielbasa as we were told it's too difficult for the kitchen for just a table of 2. But the food you do get is delicious!
I have dreams about eating the perogies, sausage, and borshch from here. Reminds me of my grandparents, down to the table and tablecloth. Set in a renovated house, it really feels like someone is having you over for their delicious home-cooked meals.
This is a charming cozy cute intimate restaurant with real authentic home made food. A genuine family business like this is always a good find. I had the chicken and dumpling soup, and a mixed plate and my friend had the vegetarian borscht. Then we shared a raspberry crepe for dessert. Everything was Delicious.
I’ve notices a couple reviews that said this place was over priced. My advice to them is that if they wanted to save the extra $2 on a meal then go get a happy meal or stay home. Not over priced at all and worth every penny. Very cozy and charming atmosphere. The food was delicious. I took my grandmother here for dinner and her exact words were “I haven’t had food that good in ages”. When you take into consideration that it’s a local family owned business you have that much more appreciation for all the hand made food and friendly service.
Experience here was just OK. Pretty standard food, as far as Ukrainian dishes comes along. Nothing that really wowed me. Not too many options if you're vegetarian or gluten intolerant, which is unfortunate to see. Service was also fairly slow. Spent well over an hour waiting for my food. If you haven't had authentic Ukrainian food, it's probably a good place to come to. If you have, there's not really any that sets this place apart.
First time at Shynok tonight and the food was wonderful! We had the stuffed eggs, borscht, meatballs, cabbage rolls and sauerkraut vareneky. All were delicious and we were totally stuffed! Service was good and friendly; prices reasonable. We will be back!
