I've been here too many times to count and it never stops amazing me how lucky we are to have such a little gem of a park nestled so close to the core of the city. Beautiful walking paths any time of the year, a fantastic paddle up the canal in the warmer months, and a great place to bring a dog to let them get some exercise. I haven't gone swimming here but judging by the amount of people that are here in the summer I assume it is a great little beach!
Best local park/dog park/off leash/beginner trails... Love The canal locks, kayaking between them is beautiful. So many cute furry friends to meet while walking. With your time. Playground: Cute and next to tennis court Restrooms: Heated with plumbing Dog-friendliness: Off leash sections and dog friendly every. Picnic area: Plenty of picnic areas
Such a beautiful and many trails for exercise and relaxing for family outdoor fun at Shubie Park. Especially in Autumn, I love to come here to see leaves changing colors. A lot of parking spaces are available there. So come to Shubie Park to enjoy a year round scenery and take many gorgeous pictures for your memories.
Best park in Dartmouth. Lots of trails and walkways and gives the feeling of dense forest. Really tall trees over the head. Squirrels, ducks, birds can be spotted. Even though there are several boards says that not to feed these looks like they are very used to hand feed. A walk through the trails is definitely a stress relieving treatment. Kayaking also available for rent Dog-friendliness: You can go off leash here, really suitable for a walk with dog
Really beautiful and green park with lots of walking and hiking spaces. We loved the mallards and lake view including kayaking which is $15/hr
Our go-to park for walks. Many paths to explore and never get tired of being here. Many trails from easy round the small pond to longer, more challenging. A separate dog walking trails for those with dogs and many benches to sit. Never had a problem with parking neither, it is accessible from at least four parking areas. We prefer stopping by Fairbanks Centre on Locks Road but if you do not mind crossing over the highway and tackling a set of stairs, you find the largest parking lot behind Cineplex Cinemas in Dartmouth Crossing shopping area. It's nature and some history. Worth exploring at any time of the year.
A fantastic park with wonderfully maintained gravel trails. We observed a lot of birds and small rodents that just made the experience so much more enjoyable.
I love this place. It is a fav park of a uddy of mine and I'm glad he introduced me. Now when I go visit, we make this tradition. You get to see all the cute puppies, little wildlife, great trails, nice views, tranquil sounds and it's simply a place of serenity. Wish we had a place like this down here in the valley.
Such a great place to walk, either by yourself or with your SO, or even with a group. It can be busy on the weekends, but during the week it's fairly quiet. Dog-friendliness: There's an off-leash area in the park that has waterfront, so the pups definitely like that. But the rest is on-leash, and most people adhere to this rule.
Beautiful park in the city! Lots of beautiful trails with small wildlife birds, squirrels, chipmunks. Lots of signage. It would be very helpful if the signs had a "You are Here" indicator. It is quite difficult to determine where you are on some of signs as you at a crossroads spot in the woods. Otherwise a beautiful park for all ages.
