Shoppers Drug Mart

Went to this location today October 4, 2024 at 4 pm. I needed new makeup products and wanted to stop here after work because it was close by. I was in the cosmetics aisle and browsing when the girl working the makeup counter called security on me. Instead of helping me look for the makeup I needed, her and the security guard just watched me. Another security scan was called while I was shopping. I’ve worked at a couple of shoppers locations and they used to call those security scans when an Indigenous person walked in. So disgusting.nnWhen I worked at Shopper’s as a beauty expert I got commission for my makeup sales. Not sure if it’s the same but I decided to use the self checkout instead. That girl doesn’t deserve any extra money from me while profiling me as a thief. I was the only customer in the cosmetics section. The security guard followed me out as well. If that’s how the staff at this location treats their Indigenous customers then I’ll buy my stuff elsewhere. Next time I’ll go to London Drugs. I have never been treated that way at London Drugs. I am thinking of returning the makeup I purchased today. I shouldn’t have purchased it in the first place but I’ve thought it over and decided to not support stores like this.nnThese stores need better training on how to treat their customers. Not every brown person that comes through their doors is a thief. It doesn’t matter if I’m dressed nicely or casually, the employees see an Indigenous person and assume I’m there to steal. Do not support these businesses.

***Update Jan 4/25 - pharmacists not helpful in another emergent situation**nIf we could give zero stars we would. A medication that should have been ready 3 days ago and one that is crucial to be on continuous was out of stock and they did not deem important to let us know until we asked what the hold up was. They then told us it would be in stock 2 days later and that it would be processed immediately. Well that wasn't the case. They are telling us end if day. We've been off it for 3 days now because they won't refill until you only have 1 pill left. The importance of someone's health seems not to be priority here.

Having one person having to manually key their code into the self checkouts machines for every person buying a gift card is simply poor management. Quit running your workers so hard, and quit trying to force people to use the crappy self checkout machines; especially to buy gift cards where it requires a staff member to key in their code every time.

Never ask them to contact your doctor for a prescription refill, if the doctor declines they will not inform you. If you call to inquire about it, they will just claim they haven't heard back from the doctor.

Unlike other shoppers' outlets elsewhere, this outlet is suffering from PR, customer service, and other issues. The management must recruit and train staff with required characteristics n attitude.nNote: In reply to the above review, I received a reply from the customer service person , who is not ready to accept the above observation.I was expecting a reply / corrective action from franchise or corporate management .
