Story

Shelly Purdy is unique among Canadian jewellery designers, renowned for her unmistakeable style, outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail.

From her downtown Toronto retail studio she designs and creates memorable collections and one-of-a-kind pieces using precious gems set in gold, platinum and sterling. Specializing in diamond wedding and engagement rings featuring Canadian diamonds, her work is uniquely Canadian—she was one of the privileged few to be invited to tour the Canadian Ekati Diamond Mine at the inception of the industry and continues to be a strong advocate of Canadian diamonds. “I design to indulge in my obsession for beauty and originality,” she says. “Jewels are my art and Canadian diamonds, pristine and pure, are the centrepiece of my bridal collections—treasured symbols of everlasting love.”
Since establishing her business in 1991 Shelly has created many notable collections including The Royals Collection, inspired by the wedding of Prince William and Kate, and Achievement Rings, which celebrate everything from the love of a lifetime to strength; precious trophies stacked together that symbolize personal success and milestones.

In 2009 Shelly was invited to showcase her jewellery at the Royal Ontario Museum’s Diamond Shop during the highly successful exhibit, The Nature of Diamonds. She has been internationally recognized for her work, as a featured designer for Rio Tinto’s Diamonds with a Story campaign, launched in Las Vegas in 2013, and as the recipient of De Beers’ prestigious Diamonds Today award. In 2013 Shelly was showcased in Masters of Jewellery Design, a book documenting half a century of Canadian fine jewellery.
