Very sweet workers, my cat was very calm for them. Did have bloodwork done for my kitten and they did give her back, leg still bleeding a lot. That's the only downside, otherwise very awesome!
Shamrock Vet is no longer owned by Dr. Joan. It is now part of the VCA animal hospital group. Primarily interested in making money. My cat has a urinary tract obstruction. It’s snowing today. They can’t care for him here so they are sending him to Nanaimo. Had to argue with the vet to get her to relieve the pressure in my cats bladder!!! More worried about if I can pay the bill, which I can. Imagine leaving an animal to suffer like that while we drive to Nanaimo to another vet office. This is definitely NOT the same animal hospital that Dr. Joan ran. If you can, find another vet.
Amazing staff, they really put the care of the animals first, but are also great at helping the people deal with the situation. I had to use them for an emergency and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality, compassionate care for their animals. The long version: I don't live in the area, but was visiting a friend with my dog. I had to bring my dog in here when he ingested something that caused him to vomit and there was blood in the vomit. Not knowing what he ingested, the staff took excellent care of him. The front of house staff got me in quickly as I had called ahead to let them know we were coming. They induced more vomiting to ensure that if anything toxic was ingested, it was all out of his system, and observed him for a while afterward. The whole time they let me stay with him and talked to me about after care for him. They even have me a towel to take with me in case he had to vomit again in the car. Their fees were very reasonable considering I'm not a client, came in without an appointment, and was really just a mess. Luckily my dog was fine and the blood wasn't an issue. Just a scary situation that was handled beautifully by all the staff I interacted with at the clinic.

Thank you Dr. Michelle and staff. All of you were amazing with your care, compassion and understanding for our situation. In our time of grief all of you came through for us as our guardian angels. We can't thank you enough for you end of life care.
I really appreciated them responding to my dog's illness and need to see someone quickly. Two other vets in the same area basically told me because of covid they were full.... wouldnt even take an emergency- no interest in helping me. Shamrock vet was very efficient and able to sus out my dog's need, prescribe and get me on my way. They followed up a few days later with me too. Clean and great covid protocol! Caring and helpful staff and doctor!thanks Shamrock!
Always friendly staff, very considerate. Prices aren't crazy and I never feel like I'm just there to make them money. They always make a big deal out of seeing our Bernese Mountain Dog, which makes him love the vet!
Amazing service, Amazing front ended staff! I was recommended to then by my vet when I moved here and after going to another local vet and not being happy. I’m so glad I made the switch! Affordable prices and amazing care. The love they show my pets senior cat, young cat and puppy is beyond what I expect from a vet! They have a vet who specializes in cat which is a added bonus for me! They spend the time to bond with my girls and both the cats and puppy enjoy visiting.
