Story

Coming soon! Shale Medical Clinic is a family-oriented medical clinic situated in the heart of Drayton Valley. The main aim of the three primary physicians, Dr Joel Giddey, Dr Ryan White & Dr Lealet van Staden, is to provide quality care to their patients, both in terms of treating existing conditions as well as practicing preventative medicine.

While the new clinic is expected to open mid/end September, the doctors will continue to care for their patients as per current arrangements. Official written/telephonic notice will be given to patients in the coming weeks as to exact start dates, etc.

While Dr van Staden remains on maternity leave, her patients will continue to be managed by Drs Giddey & White. In addition, her current prenatal and maternity patients can be accommodated at the Drayton Valley Primary Care Network (PCN).

I’m so grateful to have a first-rate medical clinic such as Shale Medical in our community. Every time I walk in to this beautiful, modern clinic I am greeted by the friendly staff at the front desk. These ladies have been so helpful to me on more than one occasion! As well, the nurses there are gentle and very caring. I have seen Dr. White, who is an outstanding practitioner; he’s very thorough in his care, plus he’s a wealth of knowledge! I feel like he genuinely wants to help me, and he always does. His professional, yet kind approach always puts my mind at ease, and I know I will be well taken care of. I’ve also seen Dr. Giddey who will also take the time to listen to my concerns and work towards finding a solution for them. I feel very fortunate to have Shale Medical in our community, and I would highly recommend these doctors and this clinic to anyone.
After all the horrible reviews I read online about this doctors office, was honestly a little worried! I booked an online appointment for today, through their website, which was super easy and convenient! Got to the clinic, ladies at the front desk were very nice and got in to see a doctor who was also very kind! Happy we went and would recommend this clinic to anyone needing to see a doctor!
I have no reason why people are putting poor reviews! I have never had any problems with a Shale clinic, the girls are amazing and if I ever have any problems trying to get in they always try to help out. If they had 10 stars I would give them that!
For the most part this place has been above average. Dr. Liza is awesome! However my experience today has been far from great. Needed a refill for birth control, not antidepressants, blood thinners or any other drug that I would need to be monitored for, just birth control. Asked several times over the phone if it could be handled out of office, which they said no. I was in 8 months ago and seen dr. Liza whom is not there at the moment, so met with another doctor who I had seen 2 years ago which was their reasoning for having me take time off work to sit in the office while dr.matherani sp? Typed a few words in her computer and sent me on my way. When I asked why this couldn't be dealt with over the phone she told me I shouldn't have waited till last minute to get my prescription refilled. The receptionist booking my appointment was also quite snotty about the whole scenario, when I was making a fuss over having to take time off work for something so ridiculous, I was told that maybe I should go find another physician. Glad our health care system would rather unwanted pregnancies instead of prescribing birth control which you can basically order online now, which I will do in the future since you need to jump through so many hoops. Just another doc worried about their own wallet.
The Doctors and Staff at the Shale clinic always go above and beyond for my elderly parents and myself. The compassion & extra communication that this clinic provides our family keeps us on the same page and is an invaluable part of my parents geriatric care.
It was good to find out valuable information about my injury and what to expect going forward. I felt better about what I am going through and glad Isaw the doctor rather than using a spot in emergency room.
I’ve always had outstanding service here! Absolutely love all the ladies that work here. Special shoutout to doctor Mithrani, I had seen other doctors for an issue but she was the one that solved it for me! Thanks to her i’ve been able to get back to work. Thank you to all the doctors and receptionists at the shale clinic. you guys truly don’t get enough credit for all your hard work.
Dr. Giddy is an incredible physician. Always offers attentive care and has a depth of knowledge he keeps adding to. The other staff are also great.
Don’t waste your time at this clinic, it’s a joke. Every time I’ve gone into the walk in with concerns they have been dismissed. I was told to take Benadryl and zincnot the first time this dr has told me this for this issue. When I voiced how frustrated I was with getting no help for my problem I was told “Why are you here again?” Quickly followed by a “than don’t come back if I’m not helping you.” I was fuming. I couldn’t get into my dr for 3 weeks so was told to go to the walk in. I was there for help for my sinus infection, not to be told to take zinc and be lectured about studies that have been done that prove it helps blah blah blah. I directly left the clinic and Went somewhere else where I was helped and got antibiotics that I NEEDED for sinusitis. I will never waste my time at this clinic again especially If Dr.White is doing the walk in.
Dealt with Dr Van Dyke I think his name is. Incredibly dismissive and condescending. Basically told me to deal with it and take some pills, none of my concerns were valid. A doctor needs to earn your trust and show that they are trustworthy. I wouldn't trust this doctor with anything. Funny thing is my wife had a great experience with his wife, she was told that she was to trust her body and follow her instincts on these things. I was told everything I thought about my own body was wrong.
