Shady Rest Waterfront Restaurant

Great food and staff were lovely! Even though they were very busy and probably short staffed, they didn't make you feel their pressures! They were friendly and smiled a lot. We were a large table and not one complaint from any of our meals! Beef dip was especially delicious! I would have taken photos but we were so hungry! View was amazing too!

Very good value for the money paid, plus a FANTASTIC view of the ocean. Friendly staff and a comfy "at home" vibe. The food is comparable to a perfect home cooked meal away from home and is a nice change of pace from the other restaurants I ate at not that they were bad! But it was just nice having some proper comfort food yk? p.s., the pizza is to die for, 10/10 would recommend

Stopped here on the way back to Victoria for lunch and the food was good. We had a burger and a beef dip and the portions were a good size. I had ceasar salad with my burger and it was large and covered in shaved parmesan cheese. Bright and friendly surroundings as well.

Love coming here and watching the ocean activities. Their food is always pretty good, I’m picky as I’m a pretty good cook! I had the prawn Cobb salad, it had a wee too much dressing and cheese for my tastes sorry forgot food picture my partner had their burger and was a little disappointed also. But I did take a picture of the ocean!

Always a favourite place to stop when we are in the area. Had lunch with family there great service from our server and good from the kitchen.

The restaurant is busy. The staff is checking the proof of vaccination very carefully . The patio is facing the ocean with awesome views. We ordered Fishman pie and a pizza. The pie is 3 star but the pizza is definitely 5 star!

The food is delicious and the service is delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We came across the Shady Rest while walking along the beach path. The staff are super friendly and personable. We split the meatballs and linguine with a yam fry appetizer. The dish would have been too much for one of us. Great pictures from the past and history from the staff. Next year will be 100 years for THE SHADY REST. ALSO, YOU SIT BY LARGE WINDOWS LOOKING OVER THE OCEAN. IT WAS A 5 STAR EXPERIENCE FOR US

Service was good, kitchen a bit slow. Had the cioppino, it was tasty enough for a light meal. Lots of onions in it, the other meal was the lamb shank. Small shank but tasty.

A great pub and restaurant. Well prepared 'pub fare', in a friendly atmosphere. Exceptional service, and great views of the Qualicum beach area. Usually busy on weekends and over the supper hour. Plan on seating yourself before 5 P.M. if you want to avoid a wait.
